Fonseka on the verge of being released
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has signed relevant papers to release the ex-Army Chief Sarath Fonseka from Jail.
State run News.lk reported that the relevant papers will be sent to the Justice Ministry on Monday for further action.
It is widely believed that Fonseka will be released either on Monday or in the upcoming days.
It is still not known on what conditions and terms Fonseka will be released.
However, an opposition MP Buddika Pathirana yesterday told the media that Fonseka once released, will give leadership to a combined opposition.
Meanwhile, groups loyal to Ex-Army General have requested the public to hoist the national flag on the day of his release.
His two daughters working and living in USA has already arrived in the country anticipating the release of the Ex-General.
Fonseka, as the Army Chief played an instrumental role in defeating the LTTE, a US proscribed terror group.
