Investment strategy should based on time of holding of your investment.
Long/Medium - still there are room in CSE.(Trading if you are capable/ investing)
Short term FD is the best, stock market swing trading is high risk but still playable in CSE.

If you have an idea to invest in CSE then you can get good return according to the market rate now...

first check which is funder_mentally strong company then don't worry invest in that... mostly all of them are in low price now.. still you can get some advise from your stock broker advisor...

But I feel you can make at least 25% to 35% (some time 100%)from market within 3 to 6 moth period..if you invest in good pick...(lot of pick are very good price now)

don't think too much at least 25% easily you can make it from CSE because you are entering good time ... WE couldn't because we already in the market so we bought all in high price level...

you also after making 25% or 35% then leave the market and keep wait and keep wait until market go down and down...(but u cannot... if you enter the market one time then if you have money every day you will feel some pick is good then buy and loose the money continuously like us)

all under 10/= shares are good to buy ....at this level easily make 50% if the market bull...

Good luck

If I had Rs 1.5 million to invest, I would put half in a 3-month FD @ interest rate of 13% p.a.
I would invest the remaining Rs 750,000 in equity shares; there are some good shares out there, trading at P/E Ratios of <10 and Dividend Yields >5%.

As Antonym pointed out, a mixture is best suited.. If ur holding period is 1-2 years, I'd say u try some fundamental stocks as well..

Stocks are vary, there are;

1. Defensive shares - give u good dividends and may not fluctuate much sometimes. Also can be higher in price. I.e. LLUB, NEST, CTC
2. Fundamentally Strong - basically campanies that have a good track record for improving financials, rare chance for a near future bankcrupcy.. Wont move overnight and take a while to appreciate which could also supported by good financials.
3. Speculatives - Hot shares, we say.. HVA, GREG, REEF, BLUE, ECL etc.. that can go up without a reason just cuz of manipulation..
4. Penny stocks - Stocks that have a price range of say 1-4 ruppes..

So depend on you reward/risk strategy, u can try any of these..

I am also agree with Antonym.. better invest 1/2 in FD.. other you can play mainly with fundamental shares or speculative shares. As Smallvile says fundmental shares are better in long run.. you will get dividends also. Regarding speculative shares you can play.. but it will be risky..but if you were buy and exit in correct time you can have gain easily.
