Nations Trust Bank opened its 52nd branch in Wennappuwa recently. Situated at the foot of the Puttalam district being a gateway to the North western province, Wennappuwa is known to have been a progressive town with an economy dependent on farming and fisheries but however today is a major contributor of a large amount of foreign remittances to the economy.

Located at 289, Chilaw Road, Wennappuwa, the new branch is based on their proprietary design concept offering the ultimate in banking standards with greater customer convenience and simplicity in banking.

Nations Trust Bank has also embarked on offering services such as Remittances and Pawning across the branch network. The bank has tied up with several Remittance partners worldwide to offer seamless transactions to customers to facilitate remittances from across the globe. Pawning services are also now being offered with access to this service 365 days of the year with extended banking hours.

Nations Trust Bank closed the quarter ending 31st March 2012, with a post tax profit of Rs. 406Mn surpassing the previous period by 8%. Current year quarter was driven by a noticeable growth in business volumes, modest growth in top line revenue and controlled growth in operating expenses. All business pillars contributed to PBT in equal measure resulting in a well balanced result. The Bank also managed to grow its loan book by 7% and deposits by 12%.

The Bank now has 52 branches, 7 Personal Banking Centers, a 24 hour customer contact centre and is the sole issuer and acquirer for American Express cards in Sri Lanka.
