sudden interest on CONN.N0000...........?

What is the reason for the sudden interest on CONN.N0000...........?

Hi,

I'm not an expert but I calculated their latest P/E ratio by referring to financial statements from http://www.cse.lk/companiesprofile/incomestatement.htm?id=214&symbol=CONN.N0000 and it was only second to RENU.

Still, I cannot explain the "sudden" interest part

EDIT: Correction, [b]IF[/b] my calculations are correct (note the big if), CONN has a better P/E ratio than RENU, so it could be undervalued at current price. Experts? what do you think?

Conn has a big capital gain included in their earnings. This is one time profit. But overall CONN is a good hotel share for future.. Not sure the current prices justify the present earnign though.

CONN used to have 3 hotels. they sold one of them and got the profit. isn't that why their PE ratio is fairly valued. now they have 2 hotels. so this year are they going to sell one of the remaining ones. then they will have 1 hotel. then next time are they going to sell the other remaining one. then they have none

Yes they did sell 1 of them ( its Reef if I recall right). But am not sure whetehr they will sell their other hotels. Were you making a statement or is this a fact?

i was just making a joke. but if a hotel business had 3 hotels and if they sold one of them, what kind of business is it? it's like the car hiring firm selling their rental cars one by one every month to make a profit. but the way it's going that kind of announcement could really appreciate the price. so it doesn't matter about so called fundamentals in cse. i don't think it would change in the future either.

isn't BRWN also got a high earnings this time because of some huge sell off?

I would be a little careful about the selling part joke as the new comers might think it was real. That why I asked. Yes it could be quite frustrating at times as CSE still doesn't seem to follow fundametals. But I think it is bit better than before ( when aspi hit 7800).

Yes they sold part oftheir HNB holdings. But if you look at their last financial there is hugh chuck from regular business and not from capital again. But their payee tax is lower. Migth be good to see what this quarter results are. In either case I believe BRWN is a solid company for the future and will have growth. It partnerships with LOLC with also do it good.

it is quite common nowadays. People dont want listen to the bitter truth. They love to live in fairyworlds

CONN might do well in the coming months, attractive dividend and profits makes CONN a good share

I'd say for the price ur paying to get a share, the dividend is abt 5% of it. Which is considering the last time. Rs.6/- div for Rs.127/- means its a huge amt. And that could tell u abt the profitability of the company and their willingness to share the profits wit share holders.

This gives u the best div u can get for ur money.. its an interim one means another one wil be on the way towards end of the year
