In either case
a) you got these rights free
b) you bought rights from market

and you did not pay to convert them before conversation date you will loose them .

Sad case. You have brought something without knowing what it is. You are totally responsible for your decision. The law/sec/gov can't save you from your .......... can they? Only thing to do is to learn from your mistake and understand what you are buying in future.

hello
i also have related issue and please help. my rights still shows in PF. i did not intend to pay for the rights but broker has dr to my settlement a/c no. of rights@12.00 w/o my knowledge.

what can i do now?

Yes. what happened was i bought few rights from market (online) and then could not dispose on time. when i checked my settlement a/c online and i saw the Dr.

Is it ethical for broker to do as he wish? i thought i have to sign the rights application if i intend to buy. else my rights (investment) would be purged/lost. now i have been DR without my knowledge.

He cannot buy without your consent. Ask him why he did that?

you don't have to sign. If you buy rights from the market, the broker has to send the payment and convert. But he cannot do it without your consent, unless you have had a good and long relationship with him where he understand you (although not correct)

So you have to complain about this.
