My opening is wait further more until you see a positive signs of the market and invest in non inter related highly discounted dividend paid counters. If it is 2.00 ml go for at least four firms and buy and keep aside as if you invested in FD. You will be able to recover part of your losses too.

Advice is no credit no margin please.

I have not studied this company, but as a general rule, keep in mind, that, those who offer highest rates are desparately in need of cash at the moment.

With Sampath bank you can open and close FD's online.

If you are putting 2M on FD,
it is advised to break them down and put in to different maturity periods.
Two years ago me and my wife started opening one FD a month.
First one was a one month FD, then 3x 3Month FD, 6x 6Month FD and so on...
Today we have more than 4 FD's expiring and renewing in every month.
Income is nearly 20K a month and increasing.

My advise is,
Don't put your money where you don't have total control over it and watch out for government tax.

Cheers...

Dear Sir,

First I looked at was Rating
Then the stock ratio Vs Liability
Then income earning and non income earnin assets ration
Liquidity ratio
At last the collections per month

All these three has over a billion collections per month so in a cash crunch they can easily pay

This is an outdated report, the latest report is here http://www.ram.com.lk/reports/1357792419.pdf done in 2013 but rating has not improved. AMF has a rating of BB- which is the lowest rating one would get. It falls in to the speculative grade. http://www.ram.com.lk/ram_rating_scale_en.php

There was once a situation in 90s where most finance companies were in trouble. A good friends father who worked at central bank deposits money only in GOVT banks since its safer. There are some who never put money in finance companies. Have some family members and friends who have lost money putting money in finance companies over the years. If there is panic and public opinion against finance companies its not going to be good. Last week I met a friend who was offered a job as a Finance director at a finance company but he turned it down. He said when he looked at the accounts he saw lot of issues like no provisioning done etc. He said finance companies are less regulated and therefore do all sort of things. I am not generalizing but I guess I made my point clear.

TFC - The finance once the biggest non financial deposit taker now in deep trouble. This is from the auditors report

"The company has incurred a net loss of Rs. 1,518,548,236/- during the year under review and the company's
accumulated losses as at 31 March 2013 was Rs. 12,580,466,393/-. The net assets is a negative balance of
Rs. 6,585,204,337/- as at that date; also there is a shortfall of quick assets required to settle the deposit liabilities falling
due for payments in 2013/2014, as set forth in note 50 to these financial statements. These matters place serious
doubt in the company's ability to continue as a going concern."

If this company end up something like CIFL that its not going to be good with over 30B in public deposits.

People have different risk appetites and mine is going to change since for about 2% interest difference I dont want to risk my money. Too many times with 10-15 years I have seen issues with finance companies. I will not go for GOVT banks but will consider private banks.
