Re: "CIFL" IPO

I don't think CIFL is a good company. I had a fixed deposit with them. They couldn't repay it even after March 2011. I could withdraw it after the central bank involvement .

One of my relatives had a Rs 2.5 Mn FD with them it took almost three years after maturity to get it back in around 15 installments (Appa Kewa Wage). I also went once with my Uncle to their Bagatalle Rd Office (Now closed). I requested their financials and had a glance at it.

1. They have invested some real estate project in Homagama (as I remember) and got stuck with it.
2. It created a asset liability mismatch so they can not meet the obligations of maturing deposits
3. Further to that they have made avoidance tactics when we call or call over. But this was different when its about a new investment.

Whatever it is, its board and the management responsibility be prudent in their investments. They just followed the real estate bubble and got almost busted. In my opinion now they have a chance to raise the money form public behind the central bank regulations.

Its upto the investors (retail like us) to be prudent because its our blood and sweat.

For me it is CRAP and they are to be SCRAPPED !.

My experience in CIFL
Post by Shehan on Wed Jul 06, 2011 8:17 pm

Freinds, look deeply about CIFL IPO, because I personally know that its being run by a bunch of crooks. I deposited money in CIFL and when the maturuty date came still I didnt get my money. And also I have filed a court case against them to get my money.

They have avoided a private placement because all HNWI are aware of the fishy business going on there therefore they are unable to have a private placement.

From my point of view CIFL is like a Deep Dried Well whereas SHL also a Deep Well but with little water...therefore who ever jumps into SHL had the opportunity to survive for some extent without hitting the head at rock bottom...But if jumped in to CIFL Well the Rock Bottom will welcome your head...

My mother deposited LKR 2M. Once matured ,she asked money back. everyday they were telling stories but didn't gave money back. My brother went with some thug to take it back. After 2 months strugle some how we took money.

Without knowing this story one of their sales person call me and asked me to deposit money in CIFL. I sent him Kade and ask lots of questions. Finally I told him my story and scolded him not to put people in trouble.

Clearly management and Central bank SNBFI both should be highly responsible for this collapse.

We atleast in this forum knew this was on the verge of collapse starting 2 year ago.  This collapse did not happen over night.  So serious responsibility needs to be taken by related parties for neglecting till the end.

When there was a directive that all Fin/Banks needs to be registered under CB,  people must have signed a sigh of relief thinking their deposits are safer . But in reality what is the difference with or without CB intervention ?

Management and all parties related ,  look at the people .Look at the curses . Though you evade many things can you evade those?

Only way to get out of this mess is to put brains together to find a restructuring plan ( converting deposit to shares is passing the burden/ball )  to gradually pay back these depositors and revive the company.

Some of them had their life savings at CIFL.

Special note to Depositors:

Atleast  learn now that when you so many choices  you decide to pick CIFL , Okanda, Sakvithi to deposit your money due to greed of higher interest without even not knowing where you are putting your money, you are also part to blame.

According to my knowledge CBSL non banking section has lot of ladies working as assistant Directors. I think each finance company supervised under one CBSL assistant Director. Majority of them are ladies. Can they handle those bunch of crooks?

CIFL right from the beginning , intentions do the company were not genuine , people like deepthi Perera, shirty Perera hoodwinked people with extravagant spending, sponsorship, high living etc..

CBSl knew right from the beginning and they could have suspended and cancelled licence without waiting till they cheated innocent people as much as they can.. Yes business can fail but story of CIFl is not that..
k
They collected only deposits with no apparent investments but trategy is money /power hungry people like Sanath jayasiri ya, Hudson samaeasinghe contributed too to this fraud.

Any other country they would haven Ben answerable , but sanath jayasiri ya got elevated to de minister category..

What a country we live... Where is governance and opposition mouth pieces other than harsh a silva making some noise.
