Sri Lankan political parties may not grant nominations to professionals in future - JHU

Addressing a press briefing held in Colombo, Gammanpila said that the majority of the professionals who were granted nomination by the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) had not been elected since they had not gained the expected number of preferential votes.

Gamanpila who bagged second highest number of preferential votes said that he was the only lawyer elected from a number of lawyers who were in the list. He also pointed out that the doctor and the engineer who were in the Colombo district list of UPFA candidates had not been elected.

He lamented that in this context the voters complaining about the qualifications of the candidates would not be meaningful.

but

we are creating a unique political culture in the world. Unique to Sri Lanka

we had people like lalith athulathmudali, Ranjan wijerathne, gamini disanayake, Lakshman Kadiragama..... It was the era of educated people. Now we have

Cricketers, film directors, Actors, Actresses, thugs..... Smile

Social development of the country depend on the Economic conditions of the country

This country is going to be ruled by drug dealers and thugs. Only God can save us.

M.Silva and D.Silva will be the rulers and professionals have to bow them for survival. Unless peoples' attitude change Sri lanka will be ruled by these thugs. We seriously need a regime change now. educated people with a vision and who can speak good English should represent Sri Lanka internationally not these drug dealers.

Time to have a strong opposition and RW should step down immediately to save this country from disaster.

Deception is the norm of the day . No law and order in the country . Drug dealers with the blessings of the government is ruling the country . Elections are being held on piece meal basis using government resources for the advantage of ruling party . Sons ,daughters , and other relatives of ministers are running the show . Corruption is at the highest level . The main opposition has the blessings for all those malpractices .

THERE IS NO LAND LIKE THIS

Again I would like to mention the classic example of Egypt . If you recall how H. Mubbarak gained 90 % of votes of each election that was held under his regime and if that was the government people deserve , how on the earth such a eruption of people's power could happen ? That is why I call this is deception . Anyway for our Sri lankan to realize the truth it takes time and when they wake up perahara might have gone .

There is no wonder if somebody call this is the MIRACLE OF ASIA

That's why so many educated Sri Lankans are voting with their feet!

Parents with young children emigrating abroad "for the sake of their children".
Older adults sending their children abroad to study and then stay on when qualified.

And quite a few of these are wealthy people who have everything here!

In the last 20 years this exodus has included a large number of Sinhalese too!

The most relevant example is chasing Elect. Engineer Mr. Patali from Ministry of Power & Energy and giving it to that clueless women.

Lots of Sri Lankans have never visited a developed country. So any government can easily mislead them. Government media brainwash them day and night.

We can't see much town planning in our country. Farmlands, houses, factories, bare lands, forests are all mixed up. This way its difficult to progress in any directions.

Professionals were the key for the development of countries like Singapore in the recent past. Our country led by thugs, is going backwards.

Even at district level, professionals are given a backseat while the politicians and civil service puppets blunder in circles.

This is the reason why we are a third world country after 60 years of independence.and it will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Singapura developed because it was led by a dictator who wanted to leave a legacy and serve the peepels. During that time our peepels were sympathy voting a widow who's only qualification was sleeping under a hypocrite while another fossil dictator told the peepel to look after their own safety when citizens and property were getting burned in the capital city.

peepels get the leeders they deserve just like forums get the admins they deserve?

Anura Kumara Dissanayake also says slimier things like Gamaya

What Anura and gamaya says are correct

But they do not get sufficient vote so far

NM. Colvin ,Wicramasinghe,Philip and others also said similar correct things from 1930s

They also never got sufficient votes They were compelled to form coalition govt with SLFP and UNP

Pl understand the reality and Try to adjust present situation

Try to see positive side and correct present rulers

Non voting percentage had given an indication to authorities that they have no confidence of ruling party, opposition & other minor segments on so called democratic process in this country. However, results given have opened the eyes of politicians which may focus more attention towards the grievances of public.

Main weaknesses of this govt

1 No rule of Law

2Crrony Capitalism and Bribery and Corruptions

3Appoinment of Friends and relations who not qualified manage

4 Mismanagement of international affairs
some important institution
( UNP from 1977 to 1994 also did more or less same thing So far
no assurance they will not repeat)

+ points of this govt

1 War victory and peaceful environment in the country

2 Development work although it is lopsided

Election clearly indicate above

Voters should understand themselves or should be explicitly convinced/educated the voters by a trusted party. If not, the practices outlined above would become more & non stoppable.
