Yes if we can identify future winners and for those who don't follow timing the market.

It is possible that a stock which is inactive today could become active tomorrow just as a stock which is active today could become inactive tomorrow. If buying interest builds up in a stock, it can easily move from the inactive to the active category. Every industry has risk and returns. Demands for some products are seasonal. Some will have demand for their products at least for the next 20 years. Number of billionaires, millionaires and middle class in Asia is going to create lot of demand for product and services. In Sri-Lanka too there will be demand for some products. There will be demand for cement, cables and other raw materials etc until they build hotels and other large scale infrastructure. To run industries they will need power and energy. More people will need health and educational facilities as well. Finally people have to eat and drink in good and bad times. Middle class population will create more demand for protein products in the future. Increased tourists too are going to create demand for food and transportation. Nobody cannot postpone eating and drinking. Globally new trend is for healthy food and drink now. Which sectors will have more growth in Sri-Lanka? There are two main areas in Sri-Lanka now. First is new found tourism and second one is high quality tea sector. Indirectly there will great demand for transportation, airlines and food producers such as poultry, fish, vegetable and fruit producers in the coming years due to tourism and increased per ca-pita income in the future. Tea producers should benefit from coming tea bull market globally.

We are seeing some sort of support for large stocks including some market leaders. In addition there are buying interest and support for some mid and small counters as well. Month of June also will be very interesting month. Yala grain output should go up when compare with corresponding last year. Tea output in MAY also should be up or far with last year. Global tea output has come down by 7%. till April. Despite lower output in the first quarter KOTA’s Tea revenue and export has gone up in the quarter ending 31/03/2014.Tea Revenue of BOPL and NAMU also has gone up in quarter ending 31/03/2014 when compare with corresponding last year. We may see more activities in the merchant banking sector as well. Finally we had good tourist numbers and Sinhala and Tamil New year in April followed by Wesak in May.
