This is a stock that went against the market trend. When market goes up GLAS went down. My feeling is GLAS will also have it's own play in future. It was comfortably traded above 6.0 and during the bull market surged over 9.0. It's gearing is reducing very rapidly and will be debt free in near future further strengthening the balance sheet. Demand for their products will also pick up with increasing consumption over the favorable time ahead.

Rising cost is their main concern, especially the energy cost.

Wait for two more quarter results for better clarity bcos their tax holiday is going to end. Also energy cost is rising. Margin depends on export

Do agree with you.
With their dividend policy there cant be a loss for the investors.
Furthermore their BVPS is at around Rs.3.60

I have 2 concerns - They Need a Booming GLASS Market , They Need Money or Find Lowest Borrowing - Power & Energy Cost are the biggest worrying factor. If they can sort out this.
I think They can do it

Our GDP growth does not reflect on disposable consumer spending. It has been bare minimum (less than half of GDP)and not at satisfactory level.
If this gets adjusted for better then more money for spending, this will be good for the market and companies alike.

But Sri lanka's savings rate is mere 20% whereas india saves around 36%. So spending in SL is far better than india

But we are worried about money left after spending on essentials we are living in a country where some mothers feed kekiri or karawila for their children because of being very poor and can not find their ends meet. (Disposable Income) These could be isolated incidents but why we have cases like this reported in media.also we have people (fathers) who climb on trees in protest if their children are not admitted to school, some say media jilmart or circus for publicity by their fathers.we have reported cases of relations to the deceased laying mini petti in the middle of road to demand justice ... all circus available only in srilanka.

Always there is exception in all the places. SL Has potential to grow because of abundance of natural resources and tourism. Good leader can make this country a great one.

True. But we must appoint a good leader. First we have to change our perceptions. But it seems to be happening but in very low rate.

Better to stick to our topic GLAS. There is not much point in talking about politics, policy makers..etc.
But Capital Markets and Politics have unique similarities,
1. Both flourish in a capitalist system.
2. Both depend on supply and demand.
3. It is all about money.

Yeah, GLAS is a well established company, their revenue's very steady, but rising energy price raise their cost of sales. On the other hand, energy affects on every industry and directly influence the inflation. However, world energy market (crude, gas) infront of a big bullish breakout after 2008. And if it break, Forex risk especially USD may raise, which not healthy for many companies except export industry ( but cost of production ?? ) Anyway, Govt. fights with the inflation to keep it low and steady. But I dont know how they face it..hehe Laughing So, lets keep it for future blah blah>>>>

And concerning SL spending, I agree with "Shark". There's a huge issue about income distribution in country. I have seen somewhere, around 40% of population earn less than 2USD per day;around Rs. 8000/= per month.(2*365= $730 per annum. But I couldnt find the resource, confused  Sry)
