Banking & Finance sector has already performed well in the past weeks creating a positive drive attracting many local investors. What will be the next sector take place of BFI in coming weeks that push the market over 6800 level?

Some market laggards could lead the next round. What about turnaround industries in the second half or this year? What about undervalued sectors? What about industries that going to become favourable industries in the coming quarterS and years? What about stagnated blue chips, small and mid stocks? What about stocks which had some pull back recently? List goes on…………………….Only Mr Market will decide. Bullish trend will start from one sector, stock and then it will spread to other sectors.

Some of my favourite sectors in the market are power, manufacturing, food and beverages, plantations, hotels and diversify sectors. Some industries may generate
above average earnings from the second half of this year on wards.

Among blue chips I am bullish on COMB. It is having a pull back now. It can pass Rs.150 easily if market condition becomes strong. Can you remember recently we had pull back in JKH? Some pullbacks will create great opportunities.

Banks and Finance Sector- Yet to see the strong rally.
Like Valuepick  said, COMB will float around 150 for some time, Meanwhile other Bluechips of Banking sector like SAMP, HNB,NTB,SEYB are still very much undervalued, still trading closer to their NAV while COMB trading above 2X NAV, Therefore I guess other first tier banking counters have a much room to appreciate on valuation basis. This treand will pass to NBFI stocks as well, leaders in the sector PLC,LFIN has already showed signs of appreciation and heading further northwards. Second tier finance stocks like VFIN,CRL also very much undervalued.

ALLI also seems to be very much undervalued, though very illiquid, once it was traded above 1200, now trading around 750.

WB

I haven’t compared with SAMP and HNB yet. What we are seeing now is consolidation in the banking and finance sector. COMB could have some opportunities. Next two year is very crucial for the Banking and Finance sector. We will find out the strongest banks in Sri-Lanka once we do some home work in the coming quarters and years. These three are major banks in Sri-Lanka. We can satisfy with their risk management. We need to study lot of areas such as long portfolio, their balance sheets, types of customers they have etc.
