Congradulate Maithree....................

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena today (21) announced that he would contest as the common candidate in the forthcoming Presidential election.

He was speaking at a media conference currently being held at the New Town Hall today (21).

ormer President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, Ministers Dumindha Dissanayake, Rajitha Senarathna, Deputy Minister N.K.A.D.S. Gunawardana, MPs Rajiva Wijesinghe and Arjuna Ranatunga are also participating in the media briefing.

Expressing his gratitude towards appointing him as the common candidate, Maithripala Sirisena stated that 18th amendment was a major blow to the democracy of the country and that executive presidency will be abolished within 100 days.

He also emphasised that he would appoint Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister.

Sure enough, strategies do help to win elections.
However, the persons inheriting the legacy of the present Trinity will be in for a big surprise! The details will come to light in January.

It is a known fact that people want changes in rulership even when it is going smooth. That phenomina will repeat itself over and over again. The nature of humans do not change!

Maithri’s supporters shot at Kalutara

A person was injured when a group of people that were lighting crackers at Maggona Junction today (21st) at about 6.40 p.m. to celebrate the announcement of Mr. Maithripala Sirisena as the common candidate of the opposition was shot at. The person injured former UNP Councilor of the Beruwala PS Chamila Ranasinghe was admitted to Nagoda Hospital
