The committee stage debate on budget 2015 commenced on November 03 and continued daily except for Sundays till the final vote today.
The second reading of the US$ 14 billion budget for next year passed on 1 November with a majority of 100 votes as 157 members of the parliament voted in favor and 57 opposed.
Main opposition United National Party (UNP), Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and the Marxist party Democratic National Alliance (DNA) voted against the budget while the coalition partner Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) abstained.
The JHU, which quit the government last week, has decided to abstain from voting today at the third reading of the 2015 budget also.
The Media Spokesperson of the party Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe said the party has decided to remain independent in parliament.
