Sri Lanka ex-president’s son proposes to sweetheart atop Kilimanjaro

ECONOMYNEXT – Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s youngest son Rohitha travelled from Tangalle to Tanzania to propose marriage to his sweetheart on top of snow-covered Kilimanjaro, another sibling said.

Second son Yoshitha was the first to announce the engagement yesterday atop the highly romantic setting on the highest mountain in the African continent.

MR says his press officer is an ‘idiotic devil’

An exasperated former president Mahinda Rajapaksa described his press officer Udith Lokubandara as a “moda yakek,” or an idiotic devil, and ordered him to stay away during an impromptu press meet on Friday.

Trouble started when the former leader emerged from his official residence in Colombo on Friday afternoon after being questioned by the CID over his role in the Keith Noyahr abduction in 2008.

President Rajapaksa was keen to speak to television cameras and reporters, but Lokubandara had ordered them out of the tightly-guarded premises. This action of Lokubandara, a son of former Speaker W. J. M. Lokubandara, angered the former leader who was keen to speak to the press.

“Moda yakek (idiotic devil),” he said pointing to Lokubandara who grinned sheepishly, but stayed by his side only to be told firmly to get lost. An aide said what the former president meant was that Lokubandara was a “stupid idiot” to have ordered reporters to leave. After the public rebuff, Lokubandara felt very small and slunk away.

Lokubandara may have followed CBK who did the same thing at the Attanagalle development committee meeting recently in spite of the reporters being invited by Divisional Secretary. She yelled at the secretary to "Shut up" in the presence of a larger audience and ordered the media personnel to leave. If a lady could say that to a senior public servant MR's reaction as a man towards Lokubandara is a 'podi' incident involving 'Podibandara' and not the father LokubandaraMARKET CRASH - NOT GUARANTEED Icon_lol. Furthermore, CBK wanted the reporters to leave and in this instance MR wanted the press to stay.

Are you still enjoying the gambler's thrill!

In spite of losing heavily the gambler is thrilled about an occasional win. What is important is sustainable growth in the market. Overall sentiment still remains negative. Now you got to swallow your own words.

ECONOMYNEXT  - Sri Lanka's Employees Provident Fund has returned to the secondary market in government bonds and will enter the stock market shortly, Central Bank Governor Indrajit Coomaraswmay said.

"The EPF has recently started operating in the government bonds secondary market," Governor Coomaraswamy said .

"We are working towards coming to the stock market fairly soon."

The central bank-managed fund left the secondary market bonds amid a so-called bondscam in 2015-2016 where dealers of the EPF was helping, Perpetual Treasuries, primary dealer in Treasuries engaged in pump and dump scams.

Governor Coomaraswamy said investment guidelines had been set and a committee was now meeting.

The stock market is at record lows in terms of valuations at the moment. The EPF also drew criticism for buying stock at high prices from companies like Perpetual Capital during the 2011 bubble.

Ruwan326 repeatedly tell the forum that he is a non-political person.

Once again It is nothing but a deliberate lie to mislead the forum members as evidenced by his posting of this article which gives a political flavour to a personal life event of the youngest son of former President Mahinda Rajapakshas

This is another political post by Ruwan326 who lies to us that he is a non-political person

Ruwan326 from time to time post articles or news items which he think are unfavourable to the former President Mahinda Rajapaksha and at the same time post articles which he think are favourable to Ranil Wickramasinghe and Yahapalana govt

A non political person will be least interested in news items involving politically related events
