Lots of investors asked ,

Most of the counters gave above 10X profit Why not GLAS?

It is possible . I had meeting with my personal investment advisors. As we discussed  I am expecting GLAS trade at 40/-

EXPO          - SG Holding
PGP GLASS - Blackstone group

If EXPO can continues Its rallies why not GLAS

PE20 = 40/-

I suggest you change your personal investment advisors.

Expo rally was backed by fundamentals such as a surge in revenue and profits.

For GLAS to appreciate as such, there needs to be valid justification.

Simply stating just because EXPO rallied why not Glas is flawed logic.

Based on the current six month performance, we can assume this will be the results of the financial year end performance for GLAS.

Net Profit: 1.5 Billion
GLAS EPS: 1.58

based on this, the PE for GLAS is 10.1,  at current market rate of 16.00 Rs.

at the price you are suggesting(40), the PE is 25.3

Would rational investors be willing to purchase GLAS at such a high value ?

Glass witnesses a slow & steady journey. Its a monopoly here and a part of one of the three glass manufacturing giants in the world where it’s parent having large manufacturing facilities & marketing arrangements in US , India and Europe. Owned by Blackstone US. Compared to recent bubble companies, Glass has an attractive dividend policy as well. Could surpass 40 easily as you correctly said.

It can reach 40 mark definitely but not in quick time as ur IA said. It takes 3,4 Qs atleast. Steady growth is what we need from GLAS.

40 is possible but not in short term. GLASS is a good counter with constant dividend, but cannot expect for a sudden growth.

With American investment Giant Blackstone being behind, that price growth would be instant.
Who ever thought Expo which is in a very competitive industry , stagnating at 3-4 levels would touch 2 hundreds in a flash.
Compared, Glass is the only glass  manufacturer in SL and part of near monopoly in the world.
Raw material is sourced from within the country, unlike import dependent dollar issue affected, for example,  Alluminium industry or virtually no or minimal value addition of graphite industry in SL. Blackstone is reported to have  made recently, 7 times the acquisition  price in a sale of one of its entities. Increasingly environment concerned future world will favor Glass.
So, immediate, a very big price appreciation would happen at any time.

Lets talk facts rather than make speculative statements.

To state Blackstone behind them will ensure success is obviously a misinformed statement.

Look at Microsoft and Nokia, a global powerhouse like Microsoft could not make Nokia a success after their acquisition of the mobile division. So simply stating a large player like Blackstone will ensure success is a wrong assumption.

Stop comparing EXPO and GLAS, both are in completely different business environments. EXPO benefits greatly from rising freight costs while GLAS is severely impacted.

GLAS has several problems they need to overcome in the short term for example rising raw material cost, energy disruptions due to shortage in fuel and gas and other problems currently plaguing most manufacturing companies in Sri Lanka.

Nothing wrong with GLAS, its a great company with a bright future but simply not worth the price you guys are suggesting with the current revenue and profits. Lets see the next quarter report.

you talk about raw material cost??
I kindly keep your attention, the majority of Raw material scrutinize through domestically.
then, YOU highlighted energy cost,
THEY HAVING solar power generations but use diesel,LPG, you have an answer for this, if you read recently PGP made ANNOUNCEMENTS. THEY clearly explained, they are planning to move for digital & analytical tools savings cost.

Based on the comments, looks like most of you amateurs have entered at 18.50 or 19.00 and now foolishly hoping for it to go up like EXPO. Let me indulge you guys for fun.

I am not going to argue with simpleminded (previous fixed deposit guys) like you, let the market price of the share reflect the true position of the share. Then lets talk.

Net assets: 5.56  = trading over 3 times NAV
PE           : trading at 10.1

GLAS Sept 2020 - 4.50
GLAS Dec 2020  - 9.50 ( Take over announcement)
GLAS Mar 2021  - 11.60 ( Take over price)
GLAS Oct  2021 - 13.20
GLAS  Nov 2021 - 16.20

The price appreciation has already happen at 260% a year. For it to appreciate to the levels you guys are saying is absolute nonsense.

Normal investor will look at an increase in revenue and profits and then decide to buy, guys like you will simply purchase on speculative assumptions such as EXPO shot so glass also must shoot.

NEWS FLASH, GLAS has had a monopoly in Sri Lanka for the last decade, its not a new development.

Unless you find another (Previous fixed deposit) novice investor like yourself who will buy like a fool. You will have a hard time trying to find a greater fool to offload your shares purchased at 18.50 and 19.00 levels.

yes all that sounds very nice on paper but lets see the practical results after implementation of the digital what not. Often words do not mean nothing only results matter in the corporate world.

Let the bottom line speak, the share price will automatically adjust based on the bottom line performance of company. Lets see who is right and who is wrong then.

Putha Chamath
I also thought like you for over a decade after I first started trading in the market in late 80s.
I started my trade with 300 shares of Pugoda Textiles from its IPO and made a big profit. Then bought MBSL at 50s and DFCC at 500 a share and made big profits within days.
I also thought I am the man and others are novices.
After burning my fingers uncountable Times now I am settled and careful making comments on stocks.
Sri Lankan market is not behaving on grounds we depict on charts and accounts.if so, there cannot be one or two who suddenly come out of nowhere and occupy the top seat within a couple of days while the real HERO is stagnating. For a lasting journey , it has to be slow and steady. Glass shows it backed by one of the leading venture capital companies in the world with other strengths I mentioned in my earlier post , which many current big players lacking. The bubbles will only  leave indelible negative marks in one’s carrier

@chamth1980,,

funny analysis, YOU compare NAV. YOU haven't answered earlier you highlighted fake areas. before you analysis NAV, go and check other potential upward counters NAV like EXPO, CTC, LLUB. CTC, & LLUB BOTH stocks dividends counters. EXPO is rapidly growing its price with its potential value, even though it's NAV, 21 OR Some amount, it now traded 10 times higher current level. don't be fool,, we all understand your hidden agenda here..

i remember that one of guy was here like "KALI" HE also act as like these, you are really idiot, bcoze, no knowledge company profile and as well as co. ongoing organic & inorganic development gobal segment.. like you guys, i saw earlier try to spread fakes.. and collect shares lowest. recently ETF comeback top 20 list. before comments here go and read company what they are doing, which are their export destination countries. when we see your profile too new,, go and see earlier people wrote genuine comments, like your people also spread negative new without proper knowledge.. old ppl know like you ppl intension. shame.
