Honestly, I dont know if they can take that pressure. We have to see employment data-- particularly number of retirees against new recruits to see fund strength. We cannot build walls without bricks. We need data-- particularly market responses to similar incidents in the past. This is not rocket science. -Robert Downey Jr. sans Gotabaya Rajapakse  Very Happy

Foreign banks are pulling the plug on their hedge fund managers because they happen to own Insurance companies who have to pay staggering figures as claims. As a result, foreign selling was triggured and now the market indices are falling. making sense of everything.... anyone else?

Good point but if it is the case other emerging market should have same problem. I still think future depreciation of rupee is the biggest concern for foreigners .

Try to understand Chinese stocks euphoria; bargains. China might not be the first market that investors think about when it comes to big gains in 2020.Who says these stocks are bargains? JKH, HEMS, COMB, SAMP, RCL, ACL, AEL and CCS. Look @ their ROE 2.8, 3, 9.3,8.5,6.2,,5.2,9.6%.

prevailing rates and policies MAKE these sectors lazy money making businesses(All they have to do is to site down all day on a nice chair ) . In develop countries  deposit rates  1.5 to 3
                                            lending rates 5 to 7.5
                                            mortgage rates 1.5 to 4.5
Sri lankan  rates has to change if we wants to become a production driven economy.

Most of the foreign selling pressure were absorbed by local HNWI s.I think their plan to hold onto them till foreign funds comeback to market.SO it's time to find out which equities will be more attractive to them.
at the same time we need to be very careful with some of these so called HNWI because their game is PUMP AND DUMP.(dumping ground is not foreign)

In developed countries interest rates are very low b'cos their currencies are strong unlike here. See how rupee has depreciated you will understand.

When interest rates are rising both businesses and consumers will cut back on spending this will cause earnings to fall and stock prices to drop.
central bank can bring down the rates. I can't understand the connection between interest rate and weak rupee?
I think rupee is getting weak because of/ import, export gap/decreasing foreign remittance /huge foreign debt. please correct me if I am wrong here.

The market is going up while economic conditions are deteriorating, This is mainly due to the quantitative easing. If this continues the market will go up further but the government can't continue quantitative easing forever. quantitative easing creates a gap between the market and the economy. so there will be a market correction in the future but can't predict when maybe one-year ahead. But as an investor, it is better to prepare anything and diversification will help. I think it is better to have gold, at least 10% in the portfolio.

Correct. But it won't take one year.It will be soon with current or next quarter companies financial release , country's covid/corrupted economy fall, political infighting, etc.

Pakistan’s benchmark index, KSE-100, was the second-best performer globally in the past month according to Bloomberg’s data and has gained 47% since reaching the lowest this year on March 25. The stocks have recovered all the losses caused by the coronavirus.
