An Online trading facilty helps you to keep track of your shares 24 hours. So its a must for investors/traders nowadays. Unless ofcourse, you are a very long term investor, not worried about short- med term price fluctuations. However Online trading requires great skill as you are your own master. You should only do trades of small quantities/values until you get the real knack of online trading.

If you have on line trading facility I think It's ok.Because Some times U don't want to give advises to broker to buy or sell. You can decide & buying Selling.
Specially in Day Trading I think u must have.

I Don't think so because if we have some good IT knowledge it gives really advantage in share market. But the important thing is not only the IT knowledge but also you should have good understand about market and transactions that you are going to do. Other wise it may end up with mess.

Costs remain the same unless they charge for the software. There are brokering firms that give the software free of charge and without any monthly charges.

I don't know about other firms. But in asha phillip, there are no additional charges/ monthly fees. But you should have a minimum Rs. 200k portfolio.

Cdax also is free of charge and think there is no minimum requirements.I started with 50000 and i was given the access. But some times it get stuck, have to restart, some times more than one time. It makes a mess some times. I caught in such a situation where i couldnt finish amending my sell or buying orders and some times lost good opportunities. what is your experience with your online trading system??

I think Direct FN TWS is the best around. I did not experience any technical problems with that. It is provided free of charge (My broker is Asia Securities). To my knowledge there is no minimum portfolio as well.

With the ability to buy and sell at my fingertips, I initially tended to do more transactions than necessary ('monkey style', as you've described it). However, I made mistakes and learnt from them.

It is better to do your own trades online than to be dependent on your broker. Go for it!

Online trading is great and must have if you're someone who works with computers all day(perhaps from your office - most of us are not full time traders).

I also have burnt my fingers by coming up with hasty decisions and executing them instantaneously with online trading system. affraid But eventually we all learn our lessons and settle down.

Online trading allows us to take our own independent decisions and execute them without someone else's input and I love that independence. At least if I end up screwed its my own fault not somebody else's.
Wink So if you have the facility go for it by all means.

I agree with you,if not for online trading it is very difficult to make money..in a Sideways or down trending market..

However..for long term investments it does'nt really matter

I think online trading is better than a broker. Specially in rapid price changing environment. When you are informing the broker, the share price would have gone up/down by 5% or 10 %. Until you fammiliar with the market behavior, better not to go for higher quatities trading.

Another adv in that is viewing the stats in a moment, which helps you to be decisive. I am using CDAX and I think it is userfriendly.
