Hey everyone, I just thought I'd share with you an innovative new service for investors in the CSE. Now you can get SMS alerts for the stocks of your choice through this new service called infoAlerts TM.

When you set the alerts, you can choose the stock and the price and when the stock you have chosen reaches that particular price it will automatically send you an SMS alert. This means when a stock is decreasing in price you can know in time and cut your losses, or when the stock price is increasing you can sell on a high!!

Have a look and decide for yourself Smile I think its a very useful tool for everyone...It is available through the Stockinfo website.

We would like to wish good luck to www.stockinfo.lk for starting innovative SMS service to stock market investors.

You can also get free SMS alerts from Sri Lanka Equity Short Message Service. All you need to do is to send the following text message via your mobile phone.

Follow srilankaequity Send it to 40404

You will instantly start receiving alerts from Srilankaequity on your device. This is a free service; we do not charge you to use it, even via SMS. However, if you use text message alerts on your phone, your mobile carrier may charge you for those messages according to your service plan.

This is an international service and you can get our SMS alerts all over the world using you local networks. Please read our posts below for more information.

Thanks for the feedback enslive, we will consider this in our next review of our services.

However due to the cost of sending out SMS to Sri Lanka as well as system running charges we believe this is a reasonable price.

Any feedback is much appreciated though Smile

Ok lets say the cost per SMS is around 14/=
but how do we know the data quality is accurate,
are they getting it directly from Stock exchange (ATS) or are they reading the stock exchange site ,

i dont think they allow 3rd party's to connect to ATS systems (they maintain it as a separate system)

if the data is accurate enough its not a bad deal, but without knowing how the data is updated its difficult to comment

Fair point saumeldaniel7. Actually the data is currently sourced from the stock exchange site, as the CSE charges 500,000 Rs. to obtain data straight from ATS, which is not feasible for projects of this scale Sad

it is good but if someone wants to sell on a high they could place a GTC order at the higher price, but there is no such method on a down trend for selling.

then again you can ask your broker to do this Smile

good job for the innovativeness. why move the system to SL if sms is high cost?

We decided to bring this to SL for many reasons, the first and foremost being that I, personally, as a Sri Lankan, wanted to make a contribution to our community Smile The other reasons include the fact that we don't have much available in terms of third party support for small scale investors here and so I thought this would be useful for everyone.

There is an international package available on the site - you can check the infoAlerts page and see the pricing. There will be no delay in international SMS delivery.

If you are reading data from CSE Site good luck with it,
important thing is the site is slow than a tortoise
most of the time i found the data is inaccurate during Intra day,
even the time is incorrect (the funny part is the time is advanced than the real time by 20 - 30 minutes, funny isnt it ?

Yes samueldaniel7 , you are very correct , we can't depend on CSE site at all
If we are going to take buying / selling decisions based on the readings of CSE , we will be too late Smile

Actually the stock price data published on the CSE site is quite reliable since I spoke to the company who made the site and they said that the data there was sourced from the ATS system itself.

It is not the problem of reliability. There is a lag that is the problem.U might miss the bus if u follow cse.lk

Fair enough, then maybe this service is better as a auxillary service for extra information and reminders as opposed to something you should rely on for perfect accuracy.
