PrabathR - I was replying to the topic and not you.

Anyway, if you have over Rs 2000, it won't matter as you're investing for a lifetime

One of my friends uncle bought shares of a company at the rate of Rs 5.25 (100,000) per share as life time investment for his daughter.now worth of that share is Rs 210.he did this in early 2000's (I think 2001).He bought DISTILLARIES.

NC wrote:@ Mahawatte; I don't believe there's something called lifetime investment in financial market. Market doesn't go in straight line, it moves in zigzag, perhaps like a roller coaster. So, unless you sell you cannot be successful. And there's also a nice quote that "don't fell in love with stocks."
However, you can invest in short, mid or long term. But, its a different story.So, you've to trade not according to our lifetime, but according to the lifespan of stocks;
1. Accumulation.
2. Expansion.
3. Distribution.
4. Contraction.
So, you've buy at right time and sell at right time. Unless, you sell at right time you loose what you earned. (means money and opportunities)
So, I think if you're hoping to do a lifetime investment, its better to buy a land/house or start your own business, I'm not joking bro.., seriously..

I am so impressed NC.
I think I can 100% agree

dcwal wrote:NC - what are the most safest shares at current mkt for long term ( 2 years ) ???

mmmmm... I think, when we looking at long term investment we should explore the fundamental values of a company. So, better to go through a valuation guide, and explore earning potentials of them in future.
Fundamentally, it could be analyze as
- Micro-economical view; like we analyze NAV, PE, EPS by looking at finance statements in company wise
- Macro economical view; such as Govt. policies, regulations, economical outlook(local & world, like inflation)..etc. And to determine how it affect their profitability.
Those macro economical conditions can be differ from sector to sector. If you look at their annual report, you can easily find out what're the factors beyond their control.

I'm looking at following sectors,
- Power and energy,
- Construction and engineering
- Land and property
- Plantation
- Manufacturing (Especially export oriented)
- Hotels and travles
- Bank and Finance ETC.........

On current situation, now many fundamentally strong stocks are hugely appreciated... So, its hard to say company wise. But you can find out what're the strong companies through a valuation guide. Still there're liquid and under valued stocks in market.
(Keep in touch with Sharks' chart section, he's doing fundamentally strong stocks for investment type. Valuepick also good for fundamental readings. Current situation, I mostly do in trading type. Very Happy)
