This is very un-professional of CSE, by not making a public announcement in their website. The trading has been stopped for several hours on the first day of the week. At-least this could be displayed in their ticker.

Absolutely correct. Trading Systems (eg: CDAX) shows status as CLOSED. But the Stock Exchange website CSE.LK shows as OPEN. Hilarious!

cse is always slow(when market trading is too) and today no response for investors
they must change their behavior and IT department authorities
and change to good software

As long as the systems work smoothly they are ignored.

On the other hand the Head of the IT department found a better job elsewhere. lol!

yes very Bad. they even didnt publish a public announcement in there site. If some one without knowing the case log to CSE will think system is work fine. coz still old ticker is running. CSE is very unorganized unit.

yes very unprofessional of CSE.. and DirectFN shows as market open... last trade has occurred on 09.34 AM... EAST trading at 42.50 (up by 1.90), guess EAST people missed a good day of probable manipulation...

I picked the following from the CSE site. Looks like this their announcement with regard to the failure.

"The Automated Trading System experienced a hardware failure in the database servers shortly after the Open Auction today.

The CSE is in the process of system recovery. The Market will be kept informed regarding the progress."

it says 'hardware' failure. This is not a new problem. You couldn't create a new account in the cse website for a few months now due to 'hardware upgrade' or something. I reckon this is another result of their continuing hardware problems. They charge so much money from us, why can't the buggers get some new hardware?

Yes, After more than 3 hours. Looks like no trading today. It is 1400Hrs (LK Time). Hope they will be able to have the system up and running tomorrow.

What about RAID disks , Mirrored disks , Redundednt power supply , Mirror Servers, redundent data links , NAS ete Etc

Isn't the data base servers auto replicate to 2nd set of disks on real time mode.

Which means Always there is a 2nd unit ( which is exactly simillar unit to first one ) to take over if the first live system fails... and which operates on auto switch over mode..

Suggest to re check your DRP . I mean disaster recovery plan..Hope you understand this atleast now..

They need to have tested DRP and activate the plan when disaster occurs. the plan is prepared well in advance before the disaster.

If this is a small problem they could have fixed it by now .. so CSE will function tomorrow. As a principle these type of systems are built with adequate and reliable backing facilities.. You cant afford to down a share market system for a whole day
