I feel ,it will take another couple of weeks to pickup, will stagnant around 34-35 for some times.

Think 99 if it is a seasonal promotion, DIST also in the basket ?

I dont see ODEL will start rally so soon and 34-35 price is not that much attractive. further, still by 1 PM 4500 qty traded. it mean ppl wait for downward move bit more, may be below 30/-.

I think its good to enter at 35 levels. Can't expect to go down further..

This situation is not special for ODEL only. All shares were like this.

ODEL starting out as a single company has grown over the years and has 15 stores with its flagship store in Alexandra place, and was operating successfully by carving a niche in the market. If I am not mistaken the target customers were high end local and foreigners. ODEL has transcended now to a top tourists visiting place and will benefit from the tourist boom in coming days. The strategic position of its store in Alexandra place was the key to attract this segment. Therefore the store location is very important for their revenue generation and attracting the target customer.
Dont know how some of the stores will contribute to this strategy specially areas like Panadura, Wattala, Kiribathgoda and Ja-ela are famous for value retailing. Average person in Sri lanka will find the items in ODEL retail store expensive. Even the low budget tourists from Asian Countries find it very expensive.
Despite all these, ODEL Revenue shows a robust growth quarter to quarter, and will improve further from the new stores if it starts to generate the expected revenue . But it depends on how much square feet area it adds on and how much Revenue/sq ft it generates.
Comparing the last two years financial reports Gross Profit margins are around 36% and net profit are around 6%. The more store they open they have to ensure that each store generate enough sales and ROI to maintain the overall profitability. They will have to keep on refurbishing and upgrading each store within reasonable time frame, Keep on advertising and promoting to attract the same customers visiting the store to see something new. Apart from these ODEL plans overseas expansion.
The firm opened a fashion accessories store for women in Singapore last year with more overseas outlets planned and also plans to enter the Maldives and India. LBO 7Jun 2010
So far things for ODEL looks fabulous and all depends on how they grow and manage in future

The Board should be balanced and should ensure that no individual or group of directors has unfettered powers of discretion. The board of directors provide mix of knowledge, skills and experience therefore has to be a collective decision.
ODEL group encompasses 5 subsidiaries, and investment in subsidiaries amounts to 389Mn. Out of this 270Mn invested in 2010/11 in ODEL lanka pvt Ltd whose principal activity is to operate a shopping complex and retail mall, and do not know whether they have commenced operation. The proceeds from IPO 250.5mn entirely used for this.
Proceeds from Interest bearing borrowings shows 695mn in cash flow statement apart from IPO proceeds, and still showing a negative cash flow of 342 mn for the year. The total Interest bearing loan as on the balance sheet 2010/11 is 930 mn. The finance expenses for the last 02 years stands around 67Mn per annum means they have to stabilize and grow.

Coz, this week this may pass 40, i collected a lot, some ...................... ??? Sorry, i cant tell the reason, those who can collect, that's what i can tell,

difference between ODEL and rest of the shares is, it is quite strong in 32-35 levels. unlike other shares. most of the shares re over-valued and some shares falling down without a proper stop point. so wat im sayin is risk of a particular share falling down has a minimum risk...

when u making a statement , think more than u think u know.. and be bit advance and also learn to look different angels of shares.. look for the company reputation, growth, P&L, B/S , share price R&S etc etc...

example : LOLC recommended by X broker at 130 levels sayin thats da minimum this share can reach for sure but it went down to 92.

Otara will play in December/January.. Please collect and see...
