And also I have HAYC 1000 @ 168. I suppose to sell HAYC @ Market price ( Loss Rs.9000) and average other high losses shares.

I too feel your approach is correct, sell the shares having the minimum loss and average the others. Timing looks good now.

Dear wsaman
look like you bought all these shares their peak values. I suggest you to study before investing stocks further. first you should select good fundamentally strong shares. when you do this check their PE, book value, dividend yield, NAV etc.
Then you should check technical indicators to identify the best time to enter those shares.
Finally What I suggest is look for new counters which will give you good return within given period instead of averaging those counters. Decision is up to you.
Good luck

Averaging down is not a good strategy provided that u dont know the % of appreciation it can take on a run...

By doing so ur oppertunity loss may rise...

I advice you to only avg UBC in this scenario with 1000 at least.. Then look for some other luckrative shares that can at least give you a 10-20% run in near future..

Hold SEYB. The price is being maintained around 65 so your loss will not increase. Dividend paying company so its a matter of waiting for an appreciation which should happen when general market conditions improve or if the share piggy backs on another banks run.

I'd say avg into BFL and TAFL because they are retailer friendly stocks with a lot of participation. If you buy TAFL below 100 and BFL around 200 or below then it will reduce your average a lot.

I don't follow UBC or HAYC but if you have the money, my general rule is buy into your losses. They are dividend paying companies and if you haven't loaned the money then you are in a wait and see position.

Hope it helps.

Buying high and holding is stupidity.

I am also agree with you. Better to avaerage UBC only.. becasue he brought for 37. so for the money he used for average can buy lucative shares and can earn some profit in normal run. Better to play with BLUE, HVA,EAST... if can enter and exit in the correct point can gain good profit.

Fair advice. As you are holding these shares during last six months or more, I think you are not in credit. Don't average shares by selling something. If you can re-finance your portfolio, that's the best thing. And trade the shares. Look at TAFL, how many times it has gone up and down between 75-135 during last six months. When a share dropped to an absurd level buy it on cash. We all have a feeling that we don't want to sell at loss. Best thing to counter such feelings is buy the same share at low and trade. I can’t be 100% sure, but I think chicken shares are worth at current prices. TAFL may move above at least 110/- or 115/- couple of times during next 4 weeks. So trade your new quantity. By doing so you can eliminate ur loses. BFL is worth at current prices. This share may not volatile as TAFL, but when it's moving it will go by at least 50-60 rupees. All the chicken shares are fairly ill-liquid. So easily movable. My estimates above are minimum. But if daily turnover levels go beyond 1.5b, expect lot of pop-ups in chickens.

SEYB is also same. I have collected some @ 63.10-63.30 during last few days. This share may end the year at 70/- levels. UBC earnings are not justifiable even at current prices. But as we can see these levels are bottom prices, it's time to average. UBC will report higher than normal profit by 31st Dec.
Don’t get disheartened for comments like this
“Another victim of buy and hold strategy. We have plenty of them of here”
We all take our decisions relative to the market conditions. So going wrong is natural, What we have to learn is how to recover losses.

I also have loss.. with shares i brought on begining of the year. But i have cover some loss playing with the speculative shares these days..(Hint: you can brought BLUE x for 3.60 and can sell for 3.80/3.90..many times it move on these ranges... same for HVA ). With these type of gain you can cover the loss...
