Crossings in several bluechip counters and buying interest in John Keells Holdings led the impressive upward movement in the indices as the benchmark index and the Milanka registered 133 and 163 point gains to close at 5,725 and 4,921 respectively.
Banking sector heavyweight Commercial Bank topped the turnover list today with 6 off-market transactions totalling to 3.3 mn shares at LKR100.0. The counter which has seen the most buying interest in the past few weeks gained 4.0% peaking at LKR106 while it closed the day at LKR104.0. Buying interest was prevalent in Commercial Bank [Non-Voting] as well supported by two crossings accounting for 868k shares at LKR83.0 as the counters closed at LKR83.1, gaining +9.5%.
