2 years ago JKH was about 120. Now it is 170
Considering dividends, foreign investors who came to market has earned 27.5% per year from JKH. Why CB don't want to get a small portion of that by devaluation rupee in this critical moment?
CB governor going to trouble country's whole economy to satisfy few foreigners who received a big gain during last two years.
Why he can't fix this problem by 50% - 50% basis. Sri Lankan's are on losing momentum, foreigners are on gaining momentum. Why CB put all the pressure on Locals ?

What about Billions of $$$$$$$ invested in free trade zones?

He is thinking from a macro economic perspective view.

what about dollar borrowers specially the banks??

Most of the country doing currency devaluation. Those trade zones were created long time ago. Investors knew devaluation on that time. They didn't expect a fixed exchange rates @ invest time.
Some of banks. Not all the banks. It is partial. not totally on dollars. bank can withstand that.. But how local firms can withstand the pressure ?

credit growth had to be limited. But does it say CB not sure about booming momentum ?

What ever. It is a trapping request, when the country's credit exposure is over 30.

According to CB , 34% of the credit is granted to imports. Funniest thing is CB increased rates to restrict imports. Why they can't devalue another 3% ? Is that won't fix the problem while increasing rates to moderate level to prevent exposing local problems ?
This is 100% local investors killing action to satisfy foreigners 100%. I hope this move will face lot of resistance.

If CB devalue rupee 3% will foreigners consider SL is bad investment location ? If CB believes SL has potential what we has to do is not devalue currency to a bad extend, not to avoid. Considerable period we had been in 110. Dollar has been devalued by 20 cents. That is only to avoid the blame

We must increase exports or reduce imports. How this going to help Leisure industry ? Can they achieve 45,000 hotel rooms by 2016? Yes. But lot from foreigners. It that Mahinda Chinthanaya want."Local must take low participation in booming sectors"

love tht final sentence. lol

the problem with devaluing is, that comes with a big responsibility to defend the rupee at that level. For the 3% devalue CB had to spend so many millions of $ in recent months. so CB cant defend it forever.
Its not that simple as you think
