Kind of fluctuations (price ups and downs with aggressive trading ) are needed for proper functioning of the market otherwise it would be a dead market like NZ, Australia and Finland though they are considered to be efficient markets. It all depends on ones risk preference (risk lover, risk averse, moderate risk taker). As far as the best performing markets are concerned no one would say that 'stock is manipulated without proof, and that ‘this stock is not manipulated but that is manipulated’. It should be minimal I do believe. It should be proven statistically with recent technology and should be more transparent. No one should impose controls ( eg price bands) on ones gut feelings.
I am not encouraging manipulation but sharing with you the true facts from experience. Regulator must have strong controls to prevent manipulators being increasingly trading in the market. We dont have even a peanut in the CSE as far as new technology is concerned with regard to broker controls. They do not have standard technological measures such as consideration on beta, standard deviation in order to set the parameters to catch the manipulators. What they do is they get up in the morning and decide there-itself on the bed on what stock to be taken as manipulative stack for the day and put price band. If wife oppose in the morning day ends putting all stocks going up with price band.
What a funny joke is it? Is this happened only in SL?
