Hello Friends,

Probably UB will come to the market at the end of this month or first week of April and it should be traded at least for Rs 60/= (according to my knowledge, Other wise most investors would not be able to cover even their initial investment because they have paid a huge interest to the Banks) ,

During the same period , if we suppose we would be able to buy NTB between Rs 70.00 - Rs 80.00, What is the best stock to buy ? 1-2 months earlier most of the people thought about a Banking rally and NTB will be traded 100-120 or more, if NTB reach even 100 it is more than 20% gain.

Guys, what do you think about this? What would be the best share ? It is UB or NTB ?

Thanks !!!

UB having a good opportunity in SL Financial market than NTB.
Because they may go to the average and middle class customers compared to the NTB which make big opportunity for the future expand of the Bank within srli lanka. Think It's depending on your holding power. I may select UB for long term.
Good Luck..!

If UB will go for high values I would presently definitely go with NTB. NTB has JKH backing also. I am not demoting UB but saying I would prefer NTB if UB trades for values as high as mentioned. Please compare existing financials of NTB and UB so you will know what I mean.

I didn't study much about Union Bank. But NTB has performed 100% YoY growth in the last year. But still trading on discounted rate. So, my choise is NTB if Union Bank go beyond 45/-. I would prefer to choose known counter at discounted rate than unknown counter at premium rate.

Union bank is one of a most overvalued IPO in recent past.
they gave very few shares to the market and that create higher demand by mostly bank garantees.
comparatively NTB is very much undervalued at current price levels with 2 rupee dividend ahead.

you cant be serious. To get the attention of the "average and middle class" customer a bank needs a branch network wide enough to reach the "average and middle class". UB s branch network does not seem strong enough to do that kinda task at the moment. But NTB compared to UB has a wider network. But still both of them have a long way to go to acquire a significant portion of the market you are talking about. According to the present statistics NTB is way ahead of UB.

I think all banks deserve a better performance. Current levels are at the lowest . Earnings are good. Along with the lisying of UB IPO ,all other banks needs to return to mormal and start an upward momentum.

If UB trades at anything above Rs. 50, I have plenty of other banks to consider that can give more return in medium term than UB. NTB is of course in the list.

Amount of charity done so far is enough to see the heaven. I am keeping all my banking sector shares without giving any more for charity for the foreigners. How much of charity work have I done in the past! “Dhanta hodhatama pin karala thiyenne. “ Hope entire banking sector will recover and start moving.

I also have some heavy investment in the banking sector. I am looking forward to see what impact the banking financials have from the recent budget concessions on the sector.

When I read above comments, I think SEYLAN is much ahead of both banks we're talking here. What do you think experts? According to today's market SEYLAN is much undervalued? I appreciate your comments.....

All Sri Lankans banks could do better, Rupee is also strong, and all international issues are far away from SL. Libyan problem is also over. They needed only 48 hours. Sri Lankan banks and currency are stable and having a comparative advantage. Keep the country peaceful and trouble free to take the advantage of the strength and the spit of upgrading in corporate earnings.
