VONE announced the divided ,but it's not moving at all , Why is that?

LGL div is more attractive, aint' it?

VONE is at the aggressive growth stage. Acquiring this and that.
For the hotel project also nearly 1 billion is going to be finance through bank loans. I was expecting not to see a div for next 3 years at least.

But never know if this is like what SEYB did once upon a time. Give a small div and then ask more by announcing a right issue short after.

Yes, Chamath. They are making massive investments. This dividend sounds a little fishy.
It's not attractive at all. Today's movement of the share was poor than than a normal day.
I too suspect some move behind.

I was under the understanding that they will not issue dividned this year!! ( according to directors).

I also agree as to why they issued one.

Both LGL and VONE have reported almost same EPS for FY2011. LGL has declared 1.5 Rs per share from while VONE is declaring 0.30 per share from their earning.

A growth investor would invest further on VONE instead of LGL at the moment as retained earning percentage of VONE is higher than LGL. This is a clear indication that VONE need money for their future plans.

Although it is not an Apple to Apple to comparison a growth investor would invest on VONE and GLAS instead of LGL.

I don’t think they will declare a right issue since such a move can create more trouble on investors who have already invested on this via the private placement. Most of the time people invested through private placement are related parties or close friends of the top management.

I also didn’t expect a dividend at this time but this a small amount and nothing to worry. Who knows DP may needs some pocket money.

With the increasing uncertainty of global economic condition, it is better if they can delay the hotel project further and observe the condition till a clear picture is seen. When everyone chases leisure sector, the wise decision would be to stay back as ultimately you have to grab a market share to sustain in business. I think the ‘Summer Season’ is not their first priory otherwise they should have started this before acquiring Delmage and Orit Apparel.

Still NP hasn't started collecting after he sold his lot to EPF at 30LKR. and I remember one day during a rally there was a 3 million or so sell order to make sure the price dont shoot up than that.

Right after NP sold his stake the counter has been going down. But shows above average growth in their FS. For 2012 the PAT is 3.6 billion (12 months). At the ipo year for 7 months the PAT was only 413million. Thats a huge growth. But it should be noted that the heavy acquisitions' profit must have contributed significantly for this boost in the growth.

Anyone know the status of the summer season hotel ? Have they finish with planning now?

At the growth stage, companies must not pay dividends.. The irony is; VONE cannot stay back without offering a dividend to attract the investors due to the dull market.. When every other company offers dividends, VONE also has to fall in line just to make the investment crowd happy..
Have we forgotten there might be a lot of investors out there who had been holding on to the lots they purchased in 20-30 region??

Economic woes continue to make the investors worry, can anyone clearly embark on a mission to start an investment at CSE? IMO, the FDs are still more profitable in the the long run, attractive interest rates are moving out the money from CSE..

LGL is an already established name, therefore fighting with LGL is not the case for VONE due to seperate market segments.
However, VONE's choice of offering a dividend may be an answer to LGL's huge dividend as both of these companies can expect to have a good growth in future.

Talking abt the future; its just a unseen factor.. SL can have various rules & regulations, policies change which could be in favour or not for certain industries.. Its an optimistic view that we hope for better while we know the contrary could happen too.. However, in any economic condition, companies with good management can still survive even if not making huge revenue increases..

I'd probably be looking at a company that has a Qtr-Qtr growth or YOY growth to take decisions on investments.
