What will happen if Dialog acquires Suntel?

Positive:
A major competitor in fixed and data arena will be eliminated
It will be worsen the situation if Etisalat or any other competitor acquires Suntel. So its safe for Dialog to buy it before it happens.
Suntel has a good brand image among the corporate sector. So it will be easy to penetrate into the corporate accounts with Suntel + Dialog brand.

Negative:
They will face excess staff problem again if they merge the companies.
The price war will continue if they allow both companies to operate independently. And this will cause revenue drop for both companies and it will affect the group revenue.
Dialog will end up paying billions for the same set of licenses and network which they already have under their subsidiary Dialog Broadband Networks.

I got to know that there is a discussion going on for an acquisition. But this is not confirmed by any official media. Anyway we can discuss about the impact in the share price if it happens... Please share your thoughts...

Suntel has been up for sale for a long time and this is not the first time that there have been rumors about dialog buying in. But the big question is can they afford it?

They just paid back the loans they got from Axiata and they have a batch of preference shares that will be redeemed (I think right about now). On top of that they are paying out a 1.6 billion rupee dividend. All this is going to lead DIAL short of cash once again.

But this time its more than that I believe...
I strongly recommend not to take any buy or sell decisions based on this unconfirmed information. I know the experts will not do it anyway but the newcomers might be mislead by this post.
This post is just to analyze the pros and cons to Dialog and the industry (if it happens) with the help of experts and to keep the members informed well in advance of a possible acquisition.

While Lanka Bell and Suntel struggling with loss of revenue and profit,Why and how do you think Dialog would buy this and turnaround while HarryJ also wondering how to do.

Dialog slowly recovering and consolidating, I dont think they will add another burden. They are diversfying in to a new area with its new subsidiary registerd in Jan'2011

Did a little bird tell you? This story is probably as old as you are.

Everyone else:
On a thread about CSF, mark as posted a link which is essential reading for any retailer who trades at the CSE.

Foreign investors are sitting on at least 500 million shares of DIAL that they can't get rid of (and that doesn't include Axiata Evil or Very Mad ). So think about that fact whenever you hear a rumour about DIAL.

But since this is the CSE I wouldn't be surprised if DIAL is 25 by next friday.

Suntel & Dialog operate on same Industry but different segments as LAN & mobile based solutions..
Dialog later on moved to CDMA where Suntel also operates in.. The new addition of Suntel would cater to a larger crowd too..

Will there be an amalgamation or not??
