Many property sector counters rallied in last few weeks, started with CLND/CITK now many other counters joined the rally. Look at movements of CSD,CTLD,OSEA,CABO etc. It seems interest continues. What do you all think, especially Antonym,Chinwi

Exactly, that's what I'm thinking, the train is moving now, need to decide when to get down, not sure whether the train get faster than this or stops. I'm holding CTLD, CSD Very Happy . Had OSEA but sold in fear of a right's issue.

I'm not getting down yet because I'm guessing that we have only covered about half the distance. Just because a stock has reached a new high does not mean that it has peaked...

Some L&P shares have enough steam left for a further 40% gain, I believe. That's my destination and I'm not getting off this train till we get there.

I guess it's not too late to get in then, wait till it stops in the next station before it reaches it destination.

OSEA subsidiary Havelock City has sold most of the apartments in Phase 2. Close to 80% sold. And they have already collected 40% of the selling price from buyers. Another 30% due in August 2013. I dont know how they will book profits but it will eventually reflect in the earnings. This could be one reason for OSEA to move up.

In CSE listed property stocks are much smaller except OSEA, This sector is not well developed as other sectors like Banks,Diversified etc. In Sri Lanka we do not have true Real Estate Investment Trust(REITs ) companies listed. These are well developed in markets like Singapore, Hong-kong etc.

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/reit.asp

Are there any regulatory issues forming REIT companies in Sri Lanka

Why not CTLD has moved from 23-24 range to almost 30 during this run. This counter has more room to go up with good dividend yield as well.

Colombo District’s land value records impressive growth in 1H
The Land Valuation Indicator (LVI) for the Colombo District has displayed robust growth in the first half of 2023 achieving a remarkable score of 215.3, according to its compiler, the Central Bank said.
The annual increase of 15.2% signifies a noteworthy expansion, reversing the declining trend observed in the LVI over the last two years.

Land values have been driven up mostly by people seeking a safe haven and fleeing cash however very poor returns on lands and apartments and unlikely to sustain.
