I started trading this year.
The biggest mistake I did was buying Union Bank shares on the first day early morning at around Rs43. (Thought that it'll move similar to SFIN)
Worst part was, most of it I bought from buying power, so had to settle within few days Sad a big loss
Another mistake is not selling it when it's going down and down, hoping that it'll move up soon, waited and waited and finally sold around 33 Smile

I always bring up a contravecy!
Yeah.

My biggest mistake was taking for granted that the prices were driven by fundementals.
I learned that only in 2009.

Dear Friends,

Do not worry about mistakes.
You could find the right way from mistakes.
King Dutugemunu(original) was eating Milk Rice at Old Woman's house during the war.The King Was eating everywhere of the milk rice plate.Old Lady advised to start from one end finish at one end.Do not eat everywhere like New Dutugemunu. The Great King Dutugemunu did the mistakes. He rectified them and won.

We can WON the stock market.Do not follow all stocks.Start from one end and finish with profits.

This is a good lesson for you to learn at the very beginning, however this is not that big mistake, what about those who invested VANIK and PUGODA etc, They don't trade any more, that is a total capital lost.
Those days VANIK behavior was like same as today's GREG, They were too much aggressive, and couldn't resist the recession . However there are news that VANIK going to re-enter the seen after court approval.

I still have some VANIK shares in my PF. VANIK used to be a mentor of modern day penny stocks. I cant remember exactly when was it ( I think 2005- 2006 time) but we used to buy VANIK in bulks and sell with a 20 cents gain. If I remembered correctly it was trading around Rs 1.50- 2.00 for long time. Gosh those were the hardest days at CSE. You had to be very lucky to get more than 10% profits from an investment.

Nowadays some people cry if the market goes into Red 3, 4 days continuously. But those days sometimes market didnt move for weeks.

Machang SL brockers are only helpers, not advisors. Treat as monkeys, call them when U need ur cheqe only, or when u need to pump some money. NOT FOR IDEAS & STOCK PICS

with time U'll realise brockers are good only to give excuses!

Yes UKboy, VANIK was a very popular share fore play like that, even if the book value was negative, those days minimum price change was 0.25 cents unlike 0.10 these days; so that movement of one step gave a huge capital gain. VANIK was a good lesson for investors who are following stocks like GREG. However They are going to start some business again after the court approval, hope you'll be able to get rid of VANIK then.

good luck
