Investment Options

I was going through the link http://www.amanabank.lk/index.php/en/investor-relations-ipo (http://www.amanabank.lk/index.php/en/investor-relations-ipo). I am looking for short term profits, is this a viable option for me to invest?

I am new to the stock market, and would like someone to help me out answering the following questions:

1.) From where can i get the past 24 month stock price of companies registered in the stock exchange.
2.) I am looking for short term profits, so what factors should i consider prior to investing on any stock.
3.) Is it a viable option to invest on Gold these days?
4.) I have heard that investing on the tourism/banking industry is a good option, what are your thoughts on this?

Note: I am fairly new to the market, and hope someone could help me out.

1) stock prices for for past 24months ....Go to CSE web site, Home page. Latter part of the page , there are links to CSE Daily, CSE Weekly, CSE Monthly.  These are PDF documents. Download, save and see.
But this do not give, you daily prices  for each day for last 24  months.
There is a way you can get daily prices of Stocks you are interested, ( or entire list )  for number of years backward. Procedure  is .....
a)Subscribe to MYCSE ,paying 600/- per month,
b)  sign in and  visit  a company page , open Financials, set the date range , download the data to a excel sheet.
c) follow the procedure for each company you are interested.

2) looking for short term profit ! ........somewhat confused about this term.  Pl specify the level of profit and the term you are thinking of , for enable someone to give specific advice/opinion.

3) invest on Gold..... I don't think anyone can say yes or no.
Someone has to do  search /research  ,be knowledgeable about the market behavior ,risk factors, and start from  a small amount,  proceed, learn and continue.

.Didn't you inquire why ?  
Remember , there are 70 companies in BFI and 40 companies in H & T sectors.
Not only banking /tourism, any sector there are good companies to invest. You have to have a clear expectation,  criteria and a strategy.

Sure......, lot of people in this Forum  will help you, only if you have thought out , what is your aim expectation and express clearly and specifically your requirements.

About short term profit - Today i heard about Amana bank share issues. Each share is suppose to go at 7/-. I am hoping the share price to go up within the next few months, so i could resell and profit from it. Do you think its a feasible plan ?

I've seen , you have mentioned this several instances , in different threads.
However  the problem is data for  latest  5 months, which is vital to assess the current trend , is not there.
Any idea, how frequently are they updating this ?

Seems to be every six month. Not sure.
