BlackRock, Inc. a U.S.-headquartered multinational investment management corporation based in New York City, Founded in 1988, initially as a risk management and fixed income institutional asset manager is now eyeing to buy a 30 million share stake of Sri Lanka's premier bluechip John Keells Group (JKH) in a bid to increase BlackRock's investments in Sri Lanka.

Accordingly BlackRock has been collecting John Keells (JKH) voting ordinary shares JKH.N at Rs.260 and Rs.261 levels from the market.

With Assets Under management of over Rs.4.59 trillion to date, BlackRock became the world's largest asset manager as of 2010 after numerous acquisitions including Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, Quellos, State Street, and Barclays Global.As of 2014, BlackRock has $4.59 trillion in assets under management.

BlackRock is independently managed, with no single majority stockholder just like Sri Lanka's John Keells Group. The PNC Financial Services Group has a minority ownership stake in BlackRock with the remainder of stock owned by institutional and individual investors, including BlackRock employees. In addition, BlackRock partners with institutional investors such as sovereign wealth funds on strategic co-investment funds and capital raises.

BlackRock bought 500,000 shares on Monday..October 27th above Rs.249 levels.

BalckRock is in the hunt for John Keells share blocks from minimum quantities ranging from 500,000 to 2,000,000 and expecting to increase JKH stake.
