Construction work at the Colombo Port City Project was temporarily suspended as per cabinet decision on the 4th of March.
News1st was closely monitoring the site and reported to the public on this massive construction site.
However, News1st showed how construction was continuing even after the suspension order was issued.
When News1st engaged in discussions on Tuesday with Engineers at the site they said construction continued until the 6th of March, because that was when they received written notification of the order to suspend construction work immediately.
News1st also inquired into how the suspension would affect the current progress of the project and whether the marine environment around the Galle Face would be affected due to this.
The Deputy Project Manager also stated that over 943 Sri Lankan employees have been left helpless after the project was suspended.
Chandana Gunawardena added that the suspension of the project by the Sri Lankan side would result in a huge loss for the country.
