Kalamazoo stock price soars after takeover by Nimal

The share price of Kalamazoo Systems Plc yesterday rose sharply to emerge as highest gainer percentage wise following news of takeover by market mover and investor Nimal Perera.
The stock touched an all-time high of Rs. 2,000 before closing at Rs. 1,910, up by Rs. 838.80 or 78%. The lowest price the share fetched was Rs. 1,716. Being an illiquid stock, only 129 shares changed hands via 43 trades.

Nimal on Wednesday bought a 67% stake in Kalamazoo, which specialises in the printing industry, for Rs. 35 million at Rs. 1,067.70 per share. Sellers included the Ratnanather family and related parties who held over 40% and CT Holdings Plc which owned 19.5% whilst related party Ceylon Printers Plc with 3.6% also exited.
With a previously acquired 1% stake, Nimal now holds a near 68% stake in Kalamazoo and will be making a mandatory offer at Rs. 1,067.70 per share to acquire remaining shareholding.

Nimal Perera buys control of quoted Kalamazoo

Mr. Nimal Perera, business tycoon Dhammika Perera’s investment advisor, last week acquired control of Kalamazoo Systems PLC, a member of the Ceylon Printers Group, with a modest issued capital of Rs. 500,000 by acquiring 67% of the company for Rs. 35 million.

This is the first quoted company acquired by Perera, owner of a substantial quoted and unquoted portfolio including Mercantile Produce Brokers commanding a substantial market share of the produce broking industry.

"Kalamazoo was once a leader in mechanized business accounting which became dated with the advent of computerized accounting," a well informed business analyst said. "Obviously its value to Perera was its quoted company status."

The Ratnanathar family and Ceylon Printers which exited from Kalamazoo did not even know who the buyer was when they sold control. They had been approached by a broker, named their price which the buyer accepted.

Responding to an inquiry by the surveillance division of the CSE, the present management of Kalamazoo said on Friday they were unaware of Perera’s plans for the company.

Nimal Perera serves on the boards of several Dhammika Perera owned/influenced quoted and unquoted companies including Pan Asia Bank, Lanka Tiles, Lanka Walltiles, Lanka Ceramics, Horana Plantations, Swisstek, Vallibe Plantations etc. He is chairman of Royal Ceramics, MD of LB Finance, and sits on the boards of Hayleys, Haycarb, Talawakelle, Kingsbury, Fortress and Amaya Leisure. if the KZOO touch even at 10000/= it is not surprise after Nimal bought this. PHAR he bought @ 400/= went up to 4000/=

Still good to keep on eye in other illiquid stock as well .. minimum float rule dead line is end of this year so they all need to do some think

OFEQ up by 189/= today so it may follow KZOO as

KZoo bought under 1400/= level sold 2800/= level same as OFEQ entered 1800/= sold @ 2500/=

now my iliquid target with SLND , CPRT ..

SLND still under 2000/= so I am entering now with that after sold my KZOO and buying CPRT as well

CPRT also will move to high level when they announce date for the rights

CPRT right just less than 1:1 basis so still very very illiqudi after rights ,,

at lease we can sell rights paper with good profit...

SLND aslo will do some think before end of this year so good to buy those ...

I bought KZOO 1300 sold 2800/= level
I bought OFEQ 1800 and sold 2500 level
I bougth CPRT 2025/= level still holding (today trading price 2500/=)
I bought SLND 1800/= level still holding (today trading price 2250/=)

So believe me you can make from these Oil palm companies as well

Today I bought some GOOD Hope @ 1600/=..... !!
