loss from RCL... ? maybe don’t buy at the top next time and also cut losses early. Better to wait for results and market recovery and dividends.. possible split etc and hope to recover your loss

I have started trading in CSE around 2020 may just after reopen the market. probably you have few years experience, so it is a joke if I try to advice you.
if you bought RCL after 20th JAN, definitely you know the reason for this price appreciation.

Appreciate if you can share the reasons behind.
On a separate note, it doesn't matter if you started in 2020 or 2010. You have shared some good posts in this forum. One specific one I can remember was about the portfolio management in a market uptrend. It showed your maturity in trading/investment. Keep sharing your experiences. All the best! Smile

RCL is a very good counter. The only thing specially in CSE you must have good patients because this is Siri Lanka we are very different. You know the letter sent by SEC and CSE to brokers ? Wrong timing and no advance planning.

Actually i don't know the reason. that is my whole point. any person who bought this at higher price should know the reason. if a person bought this doesn't know the reason ,then he/she can not say whether those reasons are sustainable ,  then that person has played some one else's game.
what i am trying to say is "play your own game". fine tune it with market conditions, if the play ground is not suitable for your game , wait or adapt your game. never play or be a part of others game.
loosing opportunity is acceptable and can not avoid. but "fall into a trap" should be avoided.

Note: even though I am not sure about the reason i have a guess. in a single day there were set of share split announcement for DPs companies. RCL is not only tile/ceramic company, it has invested on different sectors and has shares on those companies as well. at the same time there was planted idea saying that IN and DP is fighting each other for the first place. for me it is hilarious idea. This is the start. but non of above reasons are not solid and can make a sustainable price appreciation.

@Vasyan
what i know is , there are share holders who anchor this share. this is a wild guess , it will be anchored at 280 at the bottom. so selling at this point is not a good idea. when market turnover increase again this will move up (that's how RCL behave). so sell at right time

I guess we have to put a fair values for both.
RCL would post approx 40 EPS which can drive the share up to abt 600 ( 60 after split ) at a decent P/E15
HAYC caught up with a couple of bad forced selling trading days , it should trade somewhere around 160-170 after split with estimated 11-12 EPS

By looking at performance of Tile & LWL after split and current bullish market trend, I estimate RCL to close above 400 before split and then to appreciate over 50/= before end of April.

Discls : holding over 50k shares as of today

But remember Tile & LWL, the basis of the split was 5 to 1, but in the case of RCL it is 10 to 1, the advantage RCL has over TILE & LWL is their expected performance 20/21,

  • Rebrands non-functioning subsidiary as Biscuits and Chocolate Company Ltd

  • Biscuits and Chocolate Company owns 33-acre land in Homgama

Billionaire businessman Dhammika Perera-controlled Royal Ceramic Lanka (RCL) PLC is gearing to enter into biscuit and chocolate production through its non-operational subsidiary Rocell Ceramics Limited, which was recently renamed as Biscuits and Chocolate Company Limited.

ROYAL CERAMICS PLC (RCL.N0000) - Page 18 Image_d864003079According to a top RCL official, the group is yet to reach a concrete decision on this venture and it is still in the exploration phase. However, Rocell Ceramics Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of RCL, has been renamed as Biscuits and Chocolate Company Limited, as the initial step for this potential venture.

Biscuits and Chocolate Company Limited, which is a non-quoted and non-operational entity of RCL, owns over 33-acre land in Homgama, which is known as In Kiriwattuduwa Estate.

The company in 2019 resecured the rights of the land, after averting the acquisition attempt by the Lands Ministry, subsequent to entering into an MoU with the Urban Development Authority (UDA). The land was valued at around Rs.400 million, as per the available information.

According to sources, the company is considering setting up a chocolate and biscuit manufacturing plant, with a cocoa plantation, targeting both local and export markets.

The company may also look to explore the possibility of partnering with some of the leading global industry brands.

DP's investment in the confectionery sector was nothing new. It was on headlines a few months ago.
As per the information, the 33-acre belongs to DP, and constructions/development works already begin and proceeding for the last couple of months.

This came to the surface again with the disclosure in RCL's latest quarterly report that its subsidiary Rocell Ceramics Limited was renamed Biscuit and Chocolate Company Ltd (see the above post). This indicates the possibility that the aforesaid confectionary venture of DP could come under RCL. However, we could reasonably assume that no investment has been made so far by the RCL group yet, as there were no disclosures to date.

Therefore, the most obvious guess is that DP will sell the venture to RCL (and will be acquired by the Biscuit and Chocolate Company Ltd) contrary to earlier speculation that it would come under Hayles Group considering synergies.

.

This comment was based on a source I believed to have more info than ordinary people. However, I myself verified (based on RCL annual report) that some of the contents are incorrect.
Especially, the 33-acre land already belonged to the former Rocell Ceramics Limited of RCL group.
Therefore, I have no sufficient confidence that the remaining facts also correct.

In this context, I withdraw my post above and apologize for any inconvenience caused.
