72496 is (7+2+4),(9+6) = 13,15 = 1315
62134 is (6+2+1),(3+4) = 9,7 = 97
85316 is (8+5+3),(1+6) = 16,7 = 167
28439 is (2+8+4)(3+9) = 14,12 = 1412

I think we should stop with this otherwise people will report this to QB as irrelevant as brains seems to be an optional requirement for share trading these days at CSE.
But please post the answer to the 1st one we are waiting Wink

Answer
80 seeds =80*.05 = 4
1 coconut = 1*1 = 1

Ok, this is a classic puzzle from a book called Sherlock Holmes Puzzles, see if you can solve it, you have to deciphered the code I have written below

I WILL ROB THE BANK OF ENGLAND TONIGHT. MORIARTY

Since this will not fit any normal coding pattern guessed this is letter re arrangement. Since I and A are the only single letter words in English thought J is there for I (Taking one letter back).

Though I doubt of one symbol here, I'm not sure the smily face reflect the word "sepa" exactly, most of the people will interpret smily face as "sinahava"

lets take
j = number of jack seeds
c = number of coconuts
p = number of papaya

then we have j + c + p = 100 --(1)
(0.05) j + 2c + 5 p = 100 --(2)

but j has to be 20,40,60 or 80. so we can simplify the problem into 4 cases.

Case 1.
if J = 20
c+p = 80 --(3)
2c + 5p = 99 --(4)

if we solve (3) and (4) we get a negative value for p, so case 1 can not be correct

Case 2

if J = 40
c+p = 60 --(5)
2c + 5p = 98 --(6)
if we solve (5) and (6) we get a negative value for p, so case 2 can not be correct

Case 3

if J = 60
c+p = 40 --(7)
2c + 5p = 97 --( Cool

if we solve (7) and ( Cool

we get value for p = (17/3) , so case 3 can not be correct

Case 4

if J = 80
c+p = 20 --(9)
2c + 5p = 96 --(10)
if we solve (9) and (10) we get p = (56/3) , so case 4 can not be correct

Conclusion : There are no solutions.

Took me 2 mins to realize No answer for a question you saying as incorrect data! They method it should be solved is given cleanly above! Start from papaya as you need to make a integral from it!

z - no of papaya

0.05x + 2y + 5z = 100 --- (A)
x + y + z = 100 --- (B)
x, y and z are all positive integers --- (C)

from (B):

y = 100 - x - z

substitute in (A):

0.05x + 2(100 - x - z) + 5z = 100

Solving this gives:

x = (100 + 3z) / 1.95

We know that, 0 < z < 20 (maximum number of papayas you can buy for 100 rupees is 20).

Try values 1....20 for z and solve for x, you'll see that x has no integer solution. duh.

Believing has nothing to do with it, several members have "proved" that this problem has no solution. Take a look at those arguments and prove that they are wrong, only then you can re-open this problem.

bit tricky. Don't try to just add and deduct as in the previous quizzes. There is a formula behind this.

There are only 3 explanations!
1. Either you both are so stupid that you can't even understand why there is no answer to the conditions you posted. ( There are only 4 conditions and non of them satisfy the given conditions)
2. Or you are so stupid to not understand why this question is wrong and your friend is playing you!
3. You jotted down the question wrong!

Guys, I'm back with an apology , err rather a correction. Finally found out that he gave me one thing wrong, that 5 cents item is actually 10 cents, so its 10 cents, 2 Rs and 5 Rs.

actually this is a very famous question, I found it later by googling. If you google "100 dollers and 100 animals" you will find lots of flavors of this question and answers
