Seylan Bank shares have been trading without much of a movement during last few week. Seylan Bank share remain at the same level when the All share index was around 6,300 levels during the latter part of 2009.
It is learnt that some of the big investors including Dr Senthiveil, Isara Nanayakkara and Ajith Devsurendra are holding large quantities of Seylan Bank shares expecting it to move up very soon.
Further the CEO of the Seylan Bank Ajith Pasquael has been re-designated as a consultant and Board of directors are looking at infusing new faces into the management.
Meanwhile investment community in colombo is also anticipating a potential merger between NDB and Seylan Bank under the patronage of the Central Bank which requires both companies to meet the capital adequacy levels at the year end. Government through treasury and other public institutions holds substantial shares in both NDB and Seylan Bank respetively.
