Other than dividends and capital gains what are the other social benifits of having a small amount of ownership of a company?

other than many other benifits , ...stocks stable for a long period can suddenly move up....this has happend very often ... when frustated and sell. ....suddenly move upward...

to obtain a bank loan.. portfolio can be used as an asset

if there is a right issue you are entitle for it.. where you are eligible to buy the normal share at a discounted price

SEYB and PABC give extra percentage of interests on there FDs
and give 50% reduced money deposit requirement when opening current accounts
LHCL issue discount vouchers for some health services they offer.
GHLL give a free buffet once a year.

these are few that i can remember.

I think Asiri group is giving some discount on medical test for share holders.... mostly hotel you can get meal after AGM..

Yes most of the banks take the shares as securities and offer loans or OD facilities, if you have time go through the SCB Sri Lanka web site there is a facility called finance against securities

Thanks Gaja. I didn't know about this before.
Further this would be lent based on the 'locked balance' if I am right so the broker will not give credit for that amount. But the interest rate should be less than margin trading or broker credit i guess.
Do you know any other banks which provide this?
