Hi, Salt,

From what I gathered from the news is there is significant amount of credit. Is this what u mean?

It's obvious now, credit was not the issue. You can blame, credit, brokers, SEC, HNIs, manipulators....

Some perspective has given in Ravi & Arithya

its over to you to assess in your way...if something comes, only a windfall

This is what Mr Arittha says

The Colombo stock market is a "cess pool" of indiscipline with no proper regulation and a "blood bath" waiting to happen," a former head of Sri Lanka's markets watch dog said. The CSE is a "gold mine" for a few big investors who make money but a disaster waiting to happen for small investors, says Arittha Wikramanayake of law firm Nithya Partners and former Securities and Exchange Commission director-general.
http://www.lbo.lk/fullstory.php?nid=490725856

This is what Mr Ravi says

It is important to observe the basic regulatory framework as market volatility is a risk for foreign investors and it will not be attractive, Heraymila Securities Limited Chief Executive Officer Ravi Abeysuriya said.

Thank you for the (-) reps.

If something is so obvious, and i know it really well, first thing I will do, I will sell my portfolio and write the it clearly in the forum. I know lots of investors incl me have already made negative returns.

People initially blame bears ( like Harsha - opposition law maker), SEC ( price band, credit rule... etc), then brokers & HNIs, foreign investors .... Everybody thought credit rule relaxation would solve all problems while one desperate broker calling ASPI to hit 7500 end of the month.

Now, its clear that credit or SEC is not the issue. Its the issue of the market and investors themselves. If you look the forum, 90% of the topics are centered on a particular segment- which is not investing - gambling.

I am not going to pinpoint anybody here - this forum is quite sufficient to understand where the market is heading.

I am not bothered about the (-) reps here. Its our behavior. We don't like opinions that hurt us. I have never been a popular member here

If any of you have gone through my posts (for example http://forum.srilankaequity.com/t8945p25-you-have-been-shafted ), I was/is expecting a market downturn.

However note that almost everyone knew/know that 25% of debt to be cleared by end September, thus it was/is an expected drop.

If all expect something to happen in the market, probably it may not.

In other words, I do not expect end-September drop to be a deeper one.

Yes, the funny thing about stock market is majority is always wrong.

So in this case who are the majority? Sept credit clearance was known for sometime. But it became vague after the granting of broker credit. So are majority of Brokers retailers have a positive or negative outlook? Lets see.

Some ppl who entered Share business may find vast oppotunities it has to earn money. And there are lot of succes stories for us to learn.( Eg. DP,NP,AP,IN,CAPTAIN and Investment Companies such as CARS,CFVF,CINV etc.) For some ppl may be this business is not very good coz they do not handle it properly. May be they have not correctly understand the all factors which are influence the share price. And therefore they miss most of the oppotunities. Eg. PABC(I bought at 12-18 and sold within 2 years at 56/- 57/- level),CFLB( I bought at 65 level and sold around 400/- within a year)EAST( I earned a lot),REEF( Even I missedd this),CLND(I too earned only very little coz my own Panditha assessment),SEMB(In fact I earned Couple of Rs. mn from this share.)AAIC( I earned Good Profit today.Bought 120-130 and today sold at 160)

If we strict to Fundamentals we will not be able to maximize our profit. Even I couldn't earn maximum profit from my TESS stocks. I had over 300000 and I sold at 3.40-3.60. But still with a profit. This is the nature of this business friend. If you do not sell your shares at a loss definetely you can sell same stock with a profit in a future date. But the problem is "HADISSIYA" and many ppl after couple of months of acquisition of some shares sell the same with a loss. In this business we will have to be patient and then only we can make some profit at the cost of a person who does not like to be patient.

You are perfectly correct "Rajaraam", people loose a lot because they are in a hurry to collect profit. I do believe we can earn profit in a declining share as well (cos there are some spikes in the bear chart a well)

Well said Rajaraam.Very good practical approach. Some members here unnecessarally shouting about fundamentals but I do not think they even follow their own rules every time.Of course fundamentals are the most important and less risky factor but if u use fundamental analysis with technical analysis and most importantly with good common sense u will be a definite winner.

It all depends on what kind of a Investor you are. short, medium and long term, and the strategy changes accordingly

When Warren Buffet identifies a future value stock he doesnt care what price hes buying it at,coz hes investing for the future.

I have a small point to add, please watch this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLXNn-im4ec about his investment strategy on PetroChina. We should know the value of our investments today its not about "Distance Future".

Locking shares or having long term approach is very good, however you need to be aware of the price fluctuations. As you all know markets behave on sentiments, thus there are periods where even fundermentally strong shares trade at premium.
You can cash in such times. So in my opinion, always keep a sense of intrinsic value of a share." Above is one of my old posts.
