Many Sri Lankan retailers think they are traders. Sadly our market lacks investors. Touched your heart and ask yourself how many of successful trades you did in last few months and how many failed? Become a trader is the easiest thing you can do in any market but become a professional trader is the highest you can go.

Please dont insult the word trader.

to become a successful trader you need to have at least two of these key things

1. commonsense
2. right information at the right time
3. plenty money.
4. excellent pattern reader

"kollai ballai" cannt become traders ( Every tom, dick and harry cannt become traders).

If you are not sure better be away. You wont earn money but at least you are not losing money

Most people here flatter themselves by calling themselves traders. They are gamblers. I will go so far as to name names, Bakapandithaya, diondion, prabath, heriesha, market bull, rajaram are just a few examples.

Sometimes these people pretend to be investors (remember 'Last desparate buying thread'). Then when the expected bull run doesn't materialize they say those shares gained five percent you could have sold them then - which is trading. But trading is methodical and scientific. Panic buying hoping to sell to a greater fool is gambling.

Timely article and very nice indeed. I am sure even this would have gone over some peoples heads due to the gambling methodology adopted lol.
