Wouldn't it be fair if you list down what are the interest rates charged for personal loans by HNB, COMB, SAMP, HSBC and other competitors and later say NTB charging a higher interest???

There's one more thing in these bank case...

We can get a good int rate for the deposits or for the loans then the customer service may be not as expected, on the other hand u may be comfirtable with a higher rate with a good service..

Dear NPP...

HSBC fixed rate is 17% and floating rate is 16%
NTB fixed rate loan not given then floating is 19.25% if they give fixed rate it is definitely more than 19.25%

Please do not mislead

HSBC rates

HSBC Fixed rate is 20.75% (as at 22nd May)

NDB Bank

Personal loans: 18.0 - 20.5 %

Further, the loan calculator in NTB has been giving the same figure from the time I remember. Probably not updated, probably it's the only rate they got.

If one reads from the beginning of this post, can realise that this post looks like some sort of misleading. At least, for me it is misleading.

I think we should rest this topic for now...

SL.Market, we appreciate u came up with some information but however things seemed turned out bad since there were some problems with calculations..

Pls refrain from keep saying "the bank is bad" since we need solid information for that.. in the mean time be good enuf to share your experience for the benefit for all of us once you get some insight to this scenario from Bank's response..

In my line of thinking, the higher interest rates wont suggest that a bank is ripping off its customers.. Banks may have their valid reasons for those rates but as customers we could decide which is best in terms of;
1) ease of dealing
2) customer queries being answered well
3) how our rapport as a god customer in the past pays off for future
4) negotiability
5) AOB...

But mostly we would go for the lease int rate when we take a loan without much thinking and we should remember that floating rates could rise with the rising trend know? Smile

You got a point. One of the clear example for that is also NTB.Earlier they are floating rate(atleast for some customers) is 12.5%.See it has now gone up incredably.

Taking a depositor point of view, NTB offers the most attractive rates.
I am not in need of a loan so I'm not going to call and ask if the rate mentioned is floating or fixed. As per the calculator the rate is 19% I believe.

HSBC gives low floating rate - agreed. Earlier you compared savings interest rate of NTB. Why not mention the same rate of HSBC as well?

When comparing banks, or anything for that matter, it is important to include all the facts and figures instead of looking at only one item. Should include the subjective points like small mentioned.
The service in the branch I use is excellent, so I have had no hard feeling.

Besides, NTB is not "poor". It has adequate 'money' like all banks.

IMHO, giving criticism of a company or warning others about any dark spots is welcome, but this is a little too far beyond the line.

Truth is not tasted for their customers But believe or not NTB floating rate is 19.25% which is well below the other privat bank in sri lanka... No need to talk about government banks because they will never do this type of rude things to their customers
