Hi Guys

This is good time share our thoughts and Information on SPEN. After split SPEN was trading @ Rs.220, then there was huge drop to Rs.165 due to selling pressure and Market sentiments. When we analyze it future strategies, SPEN has good potential and growth and It will be most prominent player in the mkt in medium and long term.

Performance Details

Group Revenue Rs.11.9Bn
Net Profit Rs.1.42Bn
EPS Rs.5.16
Net Assets / Share Rs.49.52

SPEN Overview

SPEN diversifies its business to Services, Cargo logistics, Tourism and Strategic investment. Following are the SBUs..

Strategic Investment- Investment in Power generation and Printing & Packaging.
Cargo Logistics – Freight Forwarding, Courier and integrated logistics.
Tourism- Owns and manages hotel in Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Services – OTIS elevator agency, Insurance and property management.

SPEN Future Positioning

Tourism

Establishing Six Senses Property in Sri Lanka as BOI Company for the worth of USD 40Mn.

Complete refurbishment of Neptune property at Beruwela, southern coast and rebranding as Heritage Mahagedara which will be the specialized ayurweda resorts with 64 rooms.

Investing Rs.875Mnto build new hotels in North and East of Sri Lanka.

Rs.625mn investment for a boutique resorts south-west coast of Sri Lanka.
Occupancy of season based on pre-booking is 90%.

Cargo Logistics

Invested Rs.705Mn for upgrading container yards and acquisition of modern warehouse.

Expanding port efficiency enhancement in South Africa and accessing new market in the South Asian Region.

Container terminal in the Colombo south port harbor. The project is going to be treated in the Financial as Associate Company and with expected ROE 20%.

Strategic Investment

Setting up fossil fuel power plants in the South Asian region

Process of developing mini hydro plants and renewable energy projects.

I assume you have collected SPEN this time around. :-D
there will be growth in around 2 years for SPEN but even now it's going at around PE ratio 35. And the AHUN is going at around PE 50 i think. so the profit is already covered by the price. great for the seller not so great for the buyer.

It's diversified in a limited scope. Greater risk of not being able to cover up the dispropotianate profits share of maturaing projects.

I can not agree with you Duke.... Most of the diversified companies trading at 35PE... We must have to look into their future earning rather than taking about historic PE ratio... In my view SPEN has a sound growth.... and this is good time for the buyer....
