Yes you can.
Pl check the history of your new selection. If it has moved upwards in big margins recently than what you sell, be careful.
Remember not to buy useless share after selling a good share.

හැබැයි මතක තියා ගන්න වැඩි උන කොටසක් විකුණලා ඒ වෙනුවට ගන්න එක ඊටත් වඩා ඉහල ගිය එකක් නොවෙන්න.
හැම වෙලේම පසුගිය සති කිහිපයේ හිස්ට්‍රි ප්‍රස්ථාරය බලන්න.

I think you are a student.
If you invest smaller amount say 10,000 ( less than one month salary of anybody) then no point of keeping it for long term. If you lose it you can earn it within one month when you do a job. Just play with it to get experience. Experience is more worth than profit at your age. If you loose 10,000 you can earn 10 times using that experience in future date

If you use a bigger amount (... big is comparative according to you wealth) say from your parents, then be careful. Buy still good (not gone up ) long term shares say using 50% of it. ( COMB, NTB , BFL, CFLB .... ...) then go for other fundamentally sound shares. Try to buy power sector (hydro) shares if/when they come down. Do not be hurry to spend all the money. Keep some cash to buy shares when they come down even in a bull market.

Also play with some REEF W19, CITK , CSD like shares using 15- 20 % of your money to explore your luck and also to learn.
