Karu to be Common candidate?
I consider this as a good move by the opposition parties. If UNP comes to power, there will be:
1) Economic prosperity for everyone
2) Lots of foreign investments in Sri Lanka.
3) There will be a business friendly government and when the businesses do well it will enable job creation. Sri Lanka will be a better place for doing business for locals and foreigners and hence SL will become the financial hub in South Asia.
4) More and more job creation
5) Stock market will reach record highs
6) Hopefully prices of basic food items will come down
7) Good relationship with international community
Law and order of the country will improve
9) Family politics and corruption will not be there
I hope Karu is a strong leader and has the support of other parties as well. Important point to note is Chandrika also supports Karu which can divide SLFP vote base. People who patronize Bandaranayake will go for the common candidate. The ladies votes also will be attracted towards common candidate.
Hope there will be an end for this massive scale corruption very soon. The major problems for common candidate are:
1) Vote rigging and hora chandey
2) All government resources including Television, radio will be used for MR
3) They will use thugs to threaten people during election campaign
4) The royal family can alter any election results as they want
I hope Karu as a common candidate is a good selection but it will be very difficult to win when the ruling party will do anything to win this election.
