Hospital sector should perform well
Finance and insurance arm also start doing well.

Rs15 is a really good entry point.

Softlogic is good at 15 no doubt of that. By announcing 0.50 dividend we can see the next move of SHL.N0000. This share is one of the best diversified counters in the market. This share should be at now around 18 but I am amazed the current prices. I guess this counter is a hidden gem. Within end of this year I guess this share should at 20 to 24 range. But 18 is possible near future... However breaking 24 can be harder for SHL.N0000 due to high selling. SHL.N0000 is a long term good share. Now dividends also great. According to predictions SHL.N0000 will give 1.00 dividend in next year (2017). Under SHL.N0000 have over 30 companies which all are profitable once... Specially Asiri, Odel, Burgerking, Softlogic Communication, Hotel sector, Softlogic Information Technologies, Softlogic Finance, AAI, Softlogic retail are profiting very well.

SHL.N0000 able to increase it NAV from 9.80 to 11.82 within a financial year. It able to improve the business with impressive growth. Healthcare gave more contribution to this boost with help of ODEL, Softlogic Finance, Retail, ICT and other few companies which combined to softlogic. Most interesting thing is Softlogic showed this profit boost while leisure and healthcare on a huge investment on a hotel and hospital. Now already Hotel is built and Hospital in constructions with hoping to open in next few months. Also ODEL is moving to build its huge ODEL mall to give a impressive look to the mother company. I hope Leisure and healthcare to improve the profits with the new constructions. Due to construction on hotel, leisure sector demonstrated a loss which it will no more going in a loss due to completion. But hope a increase of profits with huge margins. Healthcare is undergoing with a construction but don't think it will demonstrate a loss due to stability of that sector. But when ODEL mall construction start it will show a decrease of profits but they also in the correct track. But I dont see good movement in automobile due to background environment of country. Overall Softlogic is a diamond share to have with you. It is next JKH i guess. In 2022 it will be the best company without any doubt if company plans work properly as earlier. Also there is no any company which has a good growth like SHL. In short terms it will show huge profit growth with attractive dividends and increase of NAV. Though the company is impressive Softlogic unable to attract foreign investors as considerable outlook. Also local investors has a bad experience towards the company due to some past experience such as IPO. So due to those it is struggling with 15 level. Though I hope softlogic will carry the share to 20 level end of this year. However last few months investors showed a positive feed back toward softlogic share. This is a hidden gem and before people get into it put your hands to it. SHL is a long term investment with unbelievable return. Short term you can invest on 15 to 18 level and sell at 20 to 22 levels Hold when it hanging in 18 to 20..... Good luck......................................

As a cautious investor I would still wait and see it's performance in next few quarters. SHL is a highly leveraged entity and current finance costs are higher than a healthy level. Also Quick Asset Ratio and Debt/Equity ratio are not within safe ranges. I'm not sure exactly if diversified business is alright to have these ratios other than normal, thus would like to hear experts advise as well.

I wonder why softlogic finance is so undervalued in the market. Their financial reports show a steady increase in profit and with regard to 2016 the company is reinvesting in itself which put softlogic finance as a good candidate for a growth stock. Even reports from first capital have suggested a strong buy for this share and announced a fair value of 55 rupees. Can anyone explain what could be the cause for this. Is it because of an overall market condition.

Softlogic is very vulnerable to an increase in interest rates and as that is likely to happen given the inflation figures one should tread carefully around this very aggressive growth stock.

ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s Softlogic Holdings group plans to hive off equity to raise funds in its retail sector which was restructured under a retail holding company.
Softlogic group, which has interests in retail, financial services, healthcare, tourism and automobiles, made a loss of 762 million rupees in the September 2019 quarter, according to interim results filed with the stock exchange.
The company has high finance costs owing to borrowings with its core businesses only recovering slowly after April’s bombings which affected tourism and retail trade.
Softlogic Holdings chairman Ashok Pathirage said in a note accompanying the accounts the group’s capital raising measures in the retail sector were progressing well.
“We expect to raise such funds by way of hiving off equity before the close of this financial year.”
Softlogic has said it plans to fund the future capital spending requirements of the retail business at subsidiary level and to repay some of the debt extended by the holding company.
Fund raising for expansion purposes were envisaged with the creation of the retail holding company, ICRA Lanka rating agency has said.
Softlogic group’s ability to raise funds at subsidiary level to meet capital spending needs and improve profitability of subsidiaries, reducing borrowings from the holding company are crucial to improving its credit profile, it has said.
