I was never intersted in chicken run before..but looking at chicken shares this time, i feel that this year belongs to food companies..if you consider last quarter EPS of BFL...annulalised EPS for next financial year will be over 20...they had a good time in 2010 and struggled thereafter..but disposable income of people has increased so much during later part of last year and especially this year with government increasing salaries and reducing cost of goods..people are thinking of branded products such as KEELS, BAHIRA, PRIMA etc...so i feel it is time to concentrate on KFP, BFL, GRAN and TAFL..out of those other shares have appreciated considersbly but market leader BFL is yet to appreciate even with excellent results.we can expect a good run of these shares towards end of this quarter...best of luck...happy trading

I Just now went through their quarterly report ended 31/03/15.

Their quarteroy group EPS was 5.93

Now we can reasonable expect annual EPS over 20. Then we can get idea about future earnings and their stock prices in a strong market.

I am expecting one of the best EPS from TAFL as well in the coming quarter and coming financial year. We will wait and see.  This is the time to estimate future earnings and some home work to identify some great opportunities in the market.

Can TAFL come closer to BFL this time?  I am studying and estimating its future earnings now.

How much we can give value when companies start to generate yearly EPS around 20 or over 20 together with higher ROE, strong cash flow and strong outlook in their industry?

Guess you are new to investment. Stock rising is Sector/Industry wise. The crowd keeps moving to different sectors then sellers will demand for their stocks that they were holding.

@Insight, dont be panic. Investing on shares is not like a horse Race, casino or gambling. Its an investment with a discipline.  you have to understand its potentials, estimate holding perods, future earnings, dividends and many more factors. Then only you will feel comfortable.  Other wise you will rotate your capital and finally empty hand. So belive a fundamentally good stock and hold it few time.  you get the correct decision, forget others....GL

BFL & TAFL have good momentum and their share prices should adjust according to their high earnings in the coming quarters.  Share Holders those who have both 2 shares may get a good profit, If they keep them with 2 Quarters. The other counters those are similar range to BFL & TAFL are in High Level now, but TAFL & BFL are available with a discounted price now.
I can list out some valued counters which are in same strength to them.

Counters                  EPS      PER     Cur. Price
Distilleries                 19.7     16        310.00
CTCE(Eagle Insu)       19.0     16        284.00
                  but
TAFL                         18.24   6.5        120.00
             (TAFL's expecting EPS : This Quarter X 4 - 4.56 X 4 = 18.24)

We can understand that TAFL's PER is lower than others and it's in low price. We should put 16 as the PER. Please Put and calculate the current price level.
18.24 X 16 = .......... ?
It must come to Distrilleries level!

Counters                   EPS    PER     Cur. Price
Chevron                    22.75   18.01     415.00
Hayleys                     24.0     15.50     360.00
CCS                          22.0     18.20     410.00
                 but
BFL                           26.18     7.63     200.00
(BFL's last 4 Quarter EPS : 2015 June - 9.20; 2015 May - 9.94; 2014 Dec - 4.01; 2014 Sep - 3.18;;
Total : 26.18)

TAFL's PER is also low. We should put 16-18 as the PER. Please Put and calculate the current price level.
26.18 X 16 = .......... ?
It must jump over to Chevron's level!

so... their share prices will be adjusted in the coming quarters.

Why can't you understand the simple way of calculating expected annualized EPS. In a different thread also I have very clearly mentioned to you this. This is not good and don't mislead people here. You will loose your credibility.

BFL annualized EPS is - Thier 1Q15 EPS Rs9.02 *4 = Rs36.08

So a counter with EPS Rs36.08 is still trading at Rs187 levels. The price of BFL should immediately adjust to its earnings. No body can argue that. This should trade above Rs200 levels by now.

With regard to the TAFL your calculation is wrong again.

TAFL financial year start from 01/01/2015 to ending 31/12/2015.

Hence they have reported their 6 months or half year profits by now as at 30/06/15.

TAFL 1Q15 EPS is - Rs3.35 and their 2ndQ EPS is Rs4.56

TAFL total EPS for 1H15 is - Rs7.92

There for annualized EPS of TAFL is - Rs7.92 * 2 = Rs15.84

However please keep this in mind. BFL has another 3Q to finish its current financial year. If they managed to improve their profits in future Q they are in a position to report more than Rs36.08 EPS for the current FY.

TAFL has another two Q to complete the current FY. If they managed to report improved profits in future two Q they would report improved profits for the current FY.

With the current positive environment for poultry sector these poultry companies should definetely produce improved results for the future Q.

Hence we can rated poultry shares in CSE as top shares for investment at present.

Dear Bandara,
You know, there are many EPS calculation methods using by Auditors & Accountants. Some of them are :-
1. Reported EPS (or GAAP EPS)
2. Ongoing EPS
3. Pro Forma EPS
4. Headline EPS
5. Cash EPS
Like that, There are many ways to find annualized EPS.

Very Happy when all the quarter values are known for a company, we can add Q1+Q2+Q3+Q4 EPSs = actual annualized EPS in that Financial year.

Very Happy But the issue is when we know only 1 or 2 or 3 Quarters EPS in that year so far ( not the whole 4)

Eg : Q1 Eps 4 , Q2 Eps 5 ,Q3 Eps 4.5 ......

( 4+5+4.5 ) X 4/3 = annualized EPS ( this is called 'Forward EPS'.
Various people use various methods to calculate annualized EPS

by the by, for a comparing purpose, I analysed BFL's EPS with past 4 Q methodcurrently BFL has 4 last Quarter EPSs. Those are:-
2015 June, 2015 March, 2014 Dec, 2014 Sep
in this point of view, it's strength at now is : 26.18
(Their  Financial Period is not the matter.)
I've analysed it's current EPS strength. that is : 26.18
You've analysed it's future / expecting / 2015-2016 Financial period EPS. that will be : more than 36

for that comparing purpose, I've analysed TAFL's EPS with a basic method (current EPS X 4). That is it's expecting EPS.

We have to do the calculation with the most reasonable way. For BFL
Current EPS + Coming quarters EPS must be considered. Its because of new projects will enhance the earning capacities. It will reduce Cost per Units.its not like other capital projects. Once BFL finish the project which will be deliverd the best supports. Some big projects never give maximum capacities. So as soon as completed the projects companies faces decreasing of profits. Its because of new assets. IF new assets have millions values as the depreciation expenses can be increased. But BFL project will run with higher productivities from the day of it starts.
We can expect 15% QOQ profit from BFL. In that scenario Annual EPS can pass 50 Levels. theese earnings can continue more in coming years. Its not like 2011 at the moment. World recorded low feed prices will remain not be changed next 2-3 years. Increasing of per capital income, protein consumption, tourism boom, fish prices hike, veg prices hikes are considerable.
