I think government will go for private renewable energy again. "What it will be" is the point here. Will it be VPEL again? idk.

Construction of Kerawalapitiya LNG power plant to commence this year

 Feb 24, Colombo

The Government has decided to commence construction of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) power plant in Kerawalapitiya this year, Passenger Transport and Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.

The Kerewalapitiya LNG Power Plant will add 300 MW of power to the national grid.
The Minister disclosed this participating at a function held at Raluwa in Medamulaka, Hambantota yesterday.

He said by constructing the Kerawalapitiya Power Plant, the Ceylon Electricity Board will be able to provide uninterrupted supply of electricity to the people without any power cuts.

“Not only that, we will be able to save the losses incurred by the Ceylon Electricity Board by stopping the current emergency purchase of electricity at high prices. Also we can help people reduce their electricity bills by providing electricity for a lower price,” the Minister added.

Does the government has interest on a particular type of renewable energy or is it renewable energy in general ?

This will help narrow down and target a high value growth stock in months to come.

There is VPEL, VLL, HPWR, PAP, HPFL and and LPL. (Please include if i have a missed a company)

It is important to identify the best value stock from above considering liquidity, future earning potential, market sentiment and correct entry point. This will help maximize profits in the shorter and medium term.

Construction work of Sri Lanka’s first LNG power plant to kick-off this month

Author LBO
Posted on November 5, 2020 | Power

Construction work on the Lakdanavi Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) power plant is expected to begin in late November, making clean energy generation of Sri Lanka a reality, which has been discussed since 2005.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal made by Power and Energy Minister Dullas Alahapperuma to construct the first LNG power plant in Sri Lanka.

Lanka Transformers Limited (LTL), which owns a majority stake in the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), has received the Cabinet approval for the construction and the power plant with a capacity of 300 megawatts will be commenced at the Lakdanavi Power Plant premises in Kerawalapitiya.

At present, about 35 percent of Sri Lanka’s national power generation comes from diesel power plants, the cost of production per unit of which is as high as 30 rupees. It is said that LNG power plants can reduce it up to 15 rupees per unit.

I wanted to know information related to renewable energy as well. I read on the budget that by 2023 70% of power should be from renewable sources.

Also came across this info

"Sri Lanka on path to 100% renewable energy says a new joint report by UNDP and ADB. ... Of this, 15,000 MW will be wind energy and about 16,000 MW will be solar energy. Balance capacity is expected to be met by hydro and biomass based power plants."

So solar and wind power would be 2 main factors.

went through the above companies that someone mentioned, LPL was mainly focused on wind and solar as well as VLL.
This is a very good area to focus on. Hope to get more information.
